We were really lucky to have an awesome, knowledged tour guide David in Zhangjiajie. His English is excellent. He is friendly and funny, and he knows a lot about the areas visited, he suggested places to eat and tourist traps to avoid. When we spent far too long in one site, he
recommended what we might want to skip. I would really be interested to have a tour with the same team and will be overjoyed if the people who travelled along with were also the same. I recommend that your company frequently using David.

I together with other students from my summer exchange in China booked a last minute (just 2 or 3 day in advance) Zhangjiajie mountain trip. The company responded very quickly even though we contacted only through e-mail. All the staff we spoke with about the trip booking was very friendly and helped with all the questions and problems (for example money transfering while in China) we had. They managed to book everything in a very short time and prepare a perfect trip for us. I would like to give an extra credit to our tour guide in Zhangjiajie Mr. Denmark - Ali. Mr. Ali was a just perfect guide for us. He is always full of energy and has a lot of stories to tell. He also responded perfectly to every request we had and managed to make a perfect tour for us. We recommend him and the whole agency strongly.

My guide Kitty was a real disappointment. Had to be prompted all the time to provide information on tourist sites, yet often could not answer questions. We paid especially for a private English-speaking guide but Kitty was constantly on her phone with her WeChat friends, and not too interested in engaging her 2 clients other than buying our tickets to tourist sites. Booked a 5-night tour through an agency called Zhangjiajie Tour Guide. The agency also recommended a hotel saying it was new but booked us into an old one instead which stank of smoke and had peeling walls. Disappointing altogether.

Together with my sister we enjoyed a wonderful visit to Zhangjiajie, China. Our guide was Melody. Fantastic! Also fun to be with! She was very attentive to our needs, spoke excellent English, provided a good overview on the sights we visited and introduced us to great local cuisine and folk entertainment. A great experience all the way around! Our agenda was jam packed but we saw everything we wanted to see and did so in a comfortable manner. Loved the Glass Bridge, Tianmen Mountain and the National Zhangjiajie sandstone forest and the city of Zhangjiajie. Will write more about these specific places we visited individually. If you are looking for a great guide in Zhangjiajie, you can't go wrong with Melody with China Highlights.

Our trip to Zhangjiajie was wonderful. Our flights were on time and comfortable and we had wonderful accommodations in Zhangjiajie.
Zhangjiajie Tour Guide's employees were always on time and very courteous. Our travel consultant, Mr. Tango, was patient. Our tour guide, Ms. Hong, was exceptional. They gave us the best information and could answer all our questions so we learned a lot about Zhangjiajie. The driver was also really good - we never felt unsafe riding with him. We will recommend your company to our friends and relatives and we hope to be able to take another tour some day.

The whole experience was 100% professional: in response to my enquiry Tango Tan customised a 3 day tour for me to suit my hotel location and my exit by train. The communication was first class as it took a couple of attempts to match my schedule, For some obscure reason, I paid twice and the company refunded one immediately without my even asking.
The tour itself was well planned and Iris, my guide, was great as she took photos with her quality camera phone the whole time. She explained enough without being encyclopedic and her English was excellent. The big advantage of a guide is that you are going to go smoothly thru the ticketing, bussing, transport and sequencing mechanism that can be daunting at best or go horribly wrong. Local knowledge comes thru experience!
A little warning for non-Chinese; Chinese are glued to their phones like a diver to a air tank. Don't be upset by this. It's just the way young Chinese are,
I had chauffeured transport when I needed it as the park is large and has different entrances. For instance from Wulingyuan to Zhangjiajie is about 40km.
Wonderful tour in an amazing place.
Thank you Iris and Tango Tan

We had a fantastic tour guide Bruce Tien who speaks perfect English and is a local; knows the area very well. On day two, rain like cat/dog, Bruce changed the schedule to tour Yellow Dragon Cave tour, which was mostly in door. Highly recommend Bruce Tien if you are looking to visit ZJJ.

Hi I had recently visited Zhangjiajie and I like to share my experience with you:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EXPLORING ZHANGJIAJIE NATIONAL FOREST PARK
(1) (Looking for “Avatar” Halelujah Mountains in the wrong scenic site).
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is part of a much larger 397.5 km2 (153.5 sq mi) Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Within these huge forest parks, the popular “Avatar” Halelujah mountains are located at Yuanjiajie scenic site and not at Yangjiajie scenic site. A lot of tourists have either explored the wrong scenic site at Yangjiajie (thinking it is the same as Yuanjiajie due to its almost similar names) or being fooled by either unprofessional or inexperienced guide who brought them to another scenic site at Yangjiajie. I had seen innocent tourists who traveled and visited this forest by themselves left disappointed after having wasted the entire day finding and looking for the “Avatar” Halelujah mountains not knowing they had visited the wrong scenic site.
(2) (Always visit Huangshizhai Village first)
Many tourists who visited Zhangjiajie National Forest Park by themselves always took the wrong decision to explore Golden Whip Stream Scenic Route first, thinking they would have enough time to return to explore Huangshizhai Village later. This is a wrong decision. The reason being the Golden Whip Stream Scenic is about 7.5 km from north to south, winding across mountains and valleys. It will take about 3 hours to complete the whole journey to the other side of the forest. By the time you realized how far is it while trekking this route, it would be too late or you would be too exhausted to turn back where you came from to explore the second site at Huangshizhai Village. Most tourists would have given up exploring Huangshizhai Village as it is too far to turn back and probably won’t be able to make it to the site cable car within its operation hours to go up and return. In fact, Huangshizhai Village has a very unique mountain scenery with incredible view so much different from the hallelujah mountains at Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It is a pity that a lot of tourists have missed this unique site due to common human error in exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
(3) (Inconvenience of public transportation to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park)
The bus network is the worst in Zhangjiajie compared to other popular attractions in China. Often foreign tourists who can’t speak the local language are left confused and disorientated when they got lost in transition. Wasting much valuable time in finding the correct bus to go to the National Park from their hotel. The bus system in Zhangjiajie is so complex that there is not direct bus to take you from the city to the forest park directly. Depending on where you take the public bus from, the bus journey usually ends in a bus station and you need to get into another bus to reach to your next destination. There are often no signs, no officer to guide you where to go. If you are visiting the park until late evening, you may be stranded at the national park main entrance for missing the last bus and the taxi fare to return to your hotel is also very expensive. In worst scenario, there are some foreign tourists who took a wrong bus and ended in a location far away from their hotel. Causing unnecessary stress and frustration due to their inability to speak the local language.
These are usually common miseries faced by foreign tourists in Zhangjiajie who wish to travel alone and visit these forest parks by themselves without the aid of a guide or without joining a private tour. Even if you have done proper research on where to go in Zhangjaijie, you would still face these miseries as the culture, customs and the huge vast forest parks under the local public transportation system are something you would not expect when you are there. Unless you can speak proper Chinese, you will definitely face a lot of miseries in trying to explore these forest parks by yourselves. Much time will be wasted in searching for the scenic sites, searching for the correct public transportation and lastly searching for food that you desired after a long day exploring.
So it does not take a scientist to realize that it is always better to hire a local english speaking guide from a reliable reputed company for a private tour to explore these vast forest parks with a peace of mind. There may be a lot of reputable and reliable tour companies you can find in the website nowadays, but I was fortunate to have appointed a beautiful guide named Grace from World Heritage Network who specializes in arranging this type of tour for foreign tourists and their guided service is second to none and the best I had experienced in all my travels in China. You can find their page in the Tripadvisor with the same name “World Heritage Network - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Day Tour”
So have fun if you are there. Always travel smart and safe ya.

Hi,
I will be in Hunan China during the end of November. Any suitable tour if I am going alone? May I know the program and the tour fee?
I would like to find out what is the temperature in Zhangjiajie during that time? Apart from warm clothing, anything else that I need to bring for the tour? And also, is normal sport shoe suitable for the tour?

We are about to visit Zangjiajie, just a little confused about this listing, the website of this listing claims it's a local travel agency at zangjiajie, but from their website, it shows the address: 1-10-4, Sanxing Building, No. 3 Lijiang Road, Guilin, 541004, China. Not what the listing shows the address of Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, China, Zhangjiajie 427000, China. Which is the real one? Can we trust anyway? Because we really want to find a credible local agency to guide us in zangjiajie, it will be our first time to travel there.

Hi Ann
Sorry for the late reply for only just seeing your question today. This listing is about the trip to the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, which is located in Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, China.
Zhangjiajie Tour Guide specializes in the tours of Zhangjiajie and other tourist places in China. It is just one of the websites operated by Guilin China Travel Service, a member of ASTA and China Association of Travel Services, which has been operating as a full service travel agency in China since 1989. Our company's base is in Guilin, but we have travel cooperative partners in all over China, including Zhangjiajie. We (the General Headquarters in Guilin) handle the booking (inquiry) from the website Zhangjiajie Tour Guide, and our local cooperative partners (including the partners in Zhangjiajie) handle the drivers and tour guides. This guarantees that we can offer the competitive price and good service for our customers.
Best regards,
Bruce
