If you can read Chinese, then it's probably four stars, but since all exhibits are in Chinese, I have to give it two stars.
It basically shows the history of how the Chinese used to write on bamboo slivers before the advent of paper.
This museum showcases the first form of written material used, that is on bamboo which were finely cut where a written script could be written on it.
The museum also depicts how paper making started in China and how it spread to the various parts...More
This is a nice and quaint free museum. Since we do not read Chinese we did not take long to go through and look at the artifacts and read the little that was in English. The bamboo slips displayed were found in Changsha during construction....More
This Museum is not for everybody. It's a small museum and the layout is very dated, noting that present generation has very short attention span and they probably won't linger too long watching the display. Guides in here comprise of volunteers, ranging from 13 years...More
Set in a modern building this museum holds a collection of Bamboo slips found in Changsha by a Japanese building firm.
Lots of the pieces are replicas, but we spent about a hour looking around. It's not a huge museum but if you are in...More
We stayed here for almost two hours. The things that exhibited in this museum are quite interesting but the way that they kept the items is worth to be discussed. Some items...More
This was a nice way to spend an hour in hot Changsha. Some interesting history on early writing and printing technology. There are also some really cool artistic displays to see. It is a very small museum though.
We went to Changsha Bamboo Slips Museum on 13 September 2014 by tour group. It had many various collections of bamboo scripts and historical artifacts from the Han and Three Kingdoms periods. There were photographs showing how the people of olden days gathered the bamboos...More
