One of the best bits of evening entertainment

You'll love it. Las Vegas fountains may be more famous but they may be closing down! View from the island on the east side so you get the best audio experience. I keep going back there and it's absolutely free. The metro is a short walk away so access is easy.

Lake, fountain during the day and music fountain at night with so many colors, possibility to rent a bike and go around lake, spend time with friends and also with family or with children, tower which has view point and playgrounds. Next to you can find new bridge - Lucky knot bridge, very famous, whole red. Nice place to spend whole day and have a rest.

MeiXi Lake magic fountains
Mar 2016 • Family
Having been there a couple of times I have to say that this MUST be one of Changsha's top attractions. Fabulous 'dancing' fountains set to music with added light show. On Saturdays you get a longer show, nearly an hour.

I have heard that it's similar to some fountains in Las Vegas, but who cares! It's fabulous! Earlier this year I had tried to visit the magic fountains in Barcelona but alas they were closed for a two-month repair period. But just comparing the size I doubt very much whether they'd compete with MeiXiHu.

Some out-door PA presentations elsewhere suffer from distortion when the volume is turned up beyond it's designed level. Not so here. Fabulous renditions of both classical Chinese tunes and familiar western operatic selections make for a great audible as well as visual treat.

Later on, in 2017, the International Cultural Centre complex will also be complete offering theatre/concert hall, art museum and library and walks in the stunning architecture. I'm looking forward to visiting when it opens.

Easy access from the city centre via the Metro Line 2.
