The Wan Sui Chan is a five minute walk from the Pullman hotel, just outside the city wall. The Chrysanthemum Festival was starting when I was there (mid-October), so the park was decked out in colorful displays. With an amusement park beside it, performances, and activities, it't perfect for families.

I feel I owe this place a good review. It is essentially was a nice peaceful park with not much to do. Probably was a bit more of a going concern until they built the millennium park not too far away. Same type of thing but millennium park must definitely be a newer development and has a lot more going on.
This park has lots of trees and shade and a pleasant walking path encircling the whole place. A river runs through it. There are crickets. The shows are so so and a very large part of the day there is little going on at all.
Went there with kids (11 and 6). At first very bored. Then they discovered....little motorized cars could be rented by the hour at a pretty inexpensive rate. This allowed the children the ability and the freedom to tear around the whole park on these vehicles--imitating their favourite Beijing taxi drivers while pedestrians that had thought they had found some solace within the park dove for cover.
Kids had a great time. Apologies to other park users, to park administration, to Kaifeng, and to China.
