If you decide to visit one traditional building in Kaifeng (except the Pagod) - that is the one
Nov 2019
Beautiful designed, not too big in size, original and not reconstructed and with amazing aray of artifacts, the guild house is the place to visit in Kaifeng to get a good impression of the local architecture. A bif bonus is the "Kaifengs" - the one from the Song period and the modern one. On top of that, you can see an interesting construction of the famous 12th century scroll painitng of the city. Worth an hour of your time for sure.

Top sight in Kaifeng
Oct 2017 • Solo
I thought this small, compact site was the best tourist spot in all of Kaifeng. It's part temple, part museum, part architectural wonder and overall just a great spot to visit. The drum and bell towers weren't open, which was a shame, but otherwise, there's still a lot to see here for RMB25.

Quaint little place
Aug 2016
A small attraction near Gulou that requires only 30mins-1hr. I would have given it 2-3 stars if not for the intricate carvings and wooden beams that survived the numerous calamities that fell upon Kaifeng. Worth a visit if you like Chinese carvings and old buildings.

Qing dynasty Merchant Hall
Jun 2013 • Friends
Rather a small, dusty site, with the expected drum and bell towers. The main hall where merchants from Gansu, Shanxi and Sha'anxi met has elegantly painted murals and carved wooden beams.

It was interesting to see, but was worth, perhaps, 1 hour of time.

Pretty, but overrated
Nov 2012 • Solo
The merchants' hall has a very pretty memorial gateway inside, but that is really the highlight. The halls are OK, but it will not occupy you for very long and the fee is a little steep for what it has to offer. There are a few interesting photos in the main hall but, as it's all in Chinese, you will have to draw your own conclusions as to their meaning.
