The city wall (albeit a complete rebuild) is still standing and well worth seeing from one of the ornate gates. You can climb and walk the wall, but once you're on it, it's just a wall. Probably best simply to admire from ground level. The central (albeit very new) Drum Tower is very spectacular at night.…

After seing so many walls, Kaifeng city walls are not special, at all. It is just a landmark, but definitely not worth a detour there, on my humble opinion.

There's a pretty good chance that you'll drive through the city wall while touring through Kaifeng on a taxi, but there's no need to really stop and get off.

This is a lovely gate/wall and is particularly beautiful at night when it is lighted. The gate has a drive through where cars drive. The best photos are those taken from the middle of the road but I wouldn't advise doing this as it can be really dangerous. The architecture is very similar to the Xian City Wall but not as spectacular.…

The sections of the city wall that you see in Kaifeng are reconstructions. If you want to see original sections of the wall, there are artifacts of the various eras of the wall in a very small archaeological cross section of the wall. This looks more like a pit in the ground with some bricks thrown in. Even for a history buff like me, it was not remotely interesting. This definitely is not a must do tourist stop. …
