Huang Feihong was born in Luzhou Village at the base of Xiqiao Mountain in 1847. Many films have been made about his life and his kung fu students. In his former home there is an excellent Martial Arts Centre. Time your visit for the daily shows at 9.30am, 10.30am, 2.30pm & 3.30pm. Add this to your visit to Xiqiao Mountain. Buy a joint ticket for entry to the mountain as well for Y70 (Y35 for 60-64 Year olds, over 65 free).

My expectation were very high as I had enjoyed the movies but a little bit of a let down. There was a lion dance across the poles by the junior troupe and then followed by the senior troupe but as the last trophy they won was in 2009 my local Malaysian troupes are far more entertaining and daring. The only benefit of visiting here first is that your tickets are then valid to visit the Guan Yin statue which was an excellent visit.

To get there, use subway to Kuiqi Road Station. From there take Bus 1. Total 1.5 hours (45 minutes subway + 45 minutes bus ride). The bus ride was a terrible experience, the driver were rude, the road was rough and the bus driving recklessly fast. As the bus quite full, we had to stand, and I use a lot of my strength of my arm to hold myself onto the bus to avoid being flung during the horrible bus ride. At the end of bus ride, I was exhausted. Bus ride cost RMB 6.
Entrance ticket is RMB20. Actually, this place should not be visited as a separate attraction; This place should be visited as part of the Xiqiao Mountain, which ticket cost RMB70. We arrived too early, as the show only started 2:30PM. Hence, we wanted to have lunch but the nearest restaurant is 明翠居 (22.926784, 112.955895)which was over 1 km to the east. We attempted to walk there, but we gave up midway and walk back.
The place was like a small museum displaying items related to Kungfu Master HuangFeiHung. Check out the gigantic lion dance head. The show was short, not too good but OK.
After finish, when we want to leave the place, we asked for direction to go to Foshan or Xiqiao Mountain. Surprisingly some of the receptionists and staffs there had no clear idea on how to use public transport to leave the place! They told me that at this place, driving car is better (What a stupid answer and suggestion)
And the bus stop was not clearly marked. When we left, we were greeted by another very rude bus driver.
No recommended to come all the way to see this place unless you plan to come here as part of the package of the Xiqiao Mountain ticket. Besides, there is also some difficulty travelling between Xiqiao Mountain and Wong Fei Hung Lion Dance Martial Arts Museum

Entry was CNY 20, and it seems like a popular attraction for the locals as well as the tourists. The Lion dance is a definite watch. They distribute souvenirs during the show (which lasts for about 15 minutes). Picked up a great Lion (or dragon?) bobble head for my car!
There is also a museum for some of the popular Wing Chun martial arts masters, including the famous Ip Man.

The performance stated with introduction and getting visitor for buying or donation with certain amount in which in return giving gift related to the performance such as lion dance toys. Follow up with so exciting performance on pole. Offering by the lion dancer is the version of stroll of luck and of course with certain minimum of donation. The whole performance will take up to 15 minutes.

The ticket to the Ancestral Temple also includes the entry to 'Wong Fei Hung Memorial Hall and to see the 'Culture Lion Dance' performances. The lion dance troupes did their best to perform for their audiences.

Unaware Lion Dance was included with admission fee.!
The performance was undertaken by (IMO) a bunch of underlings.. just going thru the
Motions.if you’ve never seen it before,.U will rave over it..seen before, it’s just so so!!
Nothing to excite on only 6 ft high poles.. seen them on 20+ ft high
This exhibition is just a small part within the Historical site..the original Kung fu site in Guangzhou ...
lion dance only: rating.5/10
They have repeats at regular intervals throughout the day.. last about 30+ mins.
Tipping is expected after every show( optional)

They have an amazing Lion Dance show-it’s dance with elements of martial art and stunts, dancers movement, costumes - it’s great!even if u don’t speak much chinese and know very little about chinese culture, you will be in love with it!they have shows at 9:30 and 10:30 in the morning and 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon (shows get cancelled in case of rain). Approximately every 1-2 hours .
Personally, I wouldn’t / shouldn’t have bothered after seeing “ students” go through the motions... but if you have never seen a lion dance performance before..enjoy .... is it’s included in your entrance fee! But, this is IMO!!!!
