call ahead to make sure they are open

One of my pet peeves is when a place claims to be open and when you get there you find out they are closed. Please, when you are closed put something on your website about it. We were already in Rocky Mount (didn't make a special trip to see it) but it was still aggravating. I really was interested in seeing it. We did take the time to walk around the property and the home is lovely.

Stonewall Manor was built on the banks of the Tar River in 1830 and offers guided tours. It got its name because of the heavy granite wall along the front.

We were in Rocky Mount this week visiting our daughter, and just was out exploring old buildings and businesses. Would have loved to have been able to tour , but no hours posted, phone disconnected, no explanation on website. Highly disappointed!

Interesting 1830 house

Was only able to view from the gate as no tour was being offered but nonetheless interesting to view an antebellum home.Lafayette stayed nearby during his 1825 tour of USA as per historic plaque.

No trespassing sign is the welcome you get!

Don’t waste your time. We planned our stay in Rocky Mount to see this manor which gave times for tours online. Closed with a no trespassing sign. Not much else to see in town unless you want to go to breweries. We would have picked another town had we known. The town needs to open this place up if they wish to attract tourists.

I’ve tried emails and phone messages for over a week and can’t get any reply. I was interested in booking a dinner party. I’m really upset that no one will call me.

Step back in time.

From the huge front door, to the steep staircase it was an adventure. The furniture and artifacts were displayed like the family just left for the day. The clothing displayed was so interesting to me.

A great antebellum home, well preserved. They offer tours and demonstrations on certain days and special events. Always beautiful at Christmas with period decorations.

A piece of history in our own back yard

We love the history of this well kept manor. A historic landmark it is available for functions like weddings and similar events. We are planning a special event there again very soon. The volunteers are over the top. It is a Christmas delight when all decorated.

A must see for history lovers

This is a great place to visit during Christmas! I have made many visits over the years but Christmas is still my favorite. The tours are very educational. I have also attended several weddings and it is the perfect location for receptions.
