The Visitor center is a great place to get maps and information. There is a free history museum and gift shop. There are a couple of easy walking trails from this destination.

What else to say other than the title? Great place to stop on your way to your forest adventure. The forest rangers are very knowledgeable about the area (road conditions, hiking recommendations etc) and happy to help. Maps available for purchase. A couple picnic tables...More

good place to stop for maps and info of the area. Attractive exhibits with very friendly rangers who were helpful. Nice gift shop also. Restrooms located at the facility. Nice hiking trail behind the parking lot

Go to the Pisgah National Forest website map There is a ton of information on the map for you to peruse. They won't let me give you the link, sorry.
