The whole walk up is just absolutely beautiful amidst the tall trees creating a beautiful canopy of coolness on a warm day, the sun filters through the dense foliage leaving pretty designs on the forest floor. The path is quite easy to climb for about 2 miles it is only the last mile that it becomes a little challenging, but... More

Hiked this mountain on Saturday. I would say its a moderate hike and well worth the view. It took us 3.5 hours to complete hike.

Looking Glass Rock is the most prominent attraction when viewing from the Overlook around Mile 418 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a large rock formation on the south side of the Parkway that dominates the landscape. Be sure and pull over when you arrive at this Overlook.

The hike to Looking Glass Rock is well worth it. It is a 6 mile round trip hike - 3 miles each way. The hike up is on a well marked trail and is a solid but doable 3 mile climb with some switchbacks. It takes a normal hiker about 1.5 hours to ascend. At the top is a wonderful... More

From the trailhead off fire road 475 in the Pisgah National Forest, it is just over a 3 mile hike to the top. Take a lot of water and a few snacks. The first 1.5-2 miles is composed of meandering and slowly climbing switchbacks. The last 1+ miles is steeper and a bit more challenging. It was somewhat muddy. Good... More

We went with another family for our first time. I was personally a bit apprehensive when faced with the challenge of an uphill 9 mile hike. Everyone was on board, so I figured, why not! It was certainly difficult, but man was it worth it! Two thumbs up! The Reedy's Palm Harbor

Located on the Blueridge Parkway, there are many pulloffs with excellent views! We pulled off several different times to see the Rock from different angles! It's located within Pisgah National Forest about 5.5 miles northwest of Brevard and stands at 3970 feet. Stop and take in the view of this majestic mountain!

Hey so yeah, I needed a good hike to take with my girlfriend since I knew I was going to propose at the summit so this one had everything we needed, great views, long enough hike, and a nice area at the summit to hang out and put up a hammock. It was an unforgettable day and the weather was... More

The trail can be hard to find as the sign marking it is hidden by trees. The trail is over 3 1/2 miles one way to Looking Glass Rock and it is very rugged. Bring lots of water and granola bars and make sure you dress appropriately with either good shoes or hiking boots because you will need them. Be... More
