This tour was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon in Pinehurst sampling excellent food perfectly paired with local craft beers. An added bonus is meeting the chef and learning about their restaurant. Kathy the tour guide provides a nicely paced tour and shares her knowledge and love for Pinehurst with her guests. I would highly recommend this tour!

We had the most wonderful afternoon. The tour was perfectly paced, full of very interesting information about Pinehurst and it’s unique history, scrumptious and abundant small plates perfectly paired with local craft beers, and a lovely wine tasting at a locally owned and operated boutique wine shop. I HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting this area or anyone from this area that wants a unique glimpse of Pinehurst and it’s fascinating history.

Monica was everything a tour guide should be. She was well informed, moved at a nice pace, but mostly, bubbly and excited about Pinehurst and all it has to offer. We learned as much today as we have in the 4 previous years that we’ve lived here. When we’d arrive at our next destination, if they weren’t quite ready or we were a little early, Monica just picked up the slack with interesting tidbits of Pinehurst. The food samplings were very very good and while I don’t drink beer, I understand those samplings were tasty.

A wonderful experience! I have lived in Pinehurst for 4 years and learned so many new facts about our wonderful Village. Kathy (tour guide) has done her homework and tells so many stories about the history of Pinehurst. The small plates and beverages at each stop along the tour were excellent - sooo delicious. We will definitely take this tour again when we have visitors in town.

*One part cuisine samplings from local village establishments.
*One part spirit samplings that are paired with cuisine.
* A wonderful guide who shared the history of the village in a entertaining and informative manner.

Wow! What a tour. I went with nine girlfriends and had a ball. The Spanglers do an exceptional job planning a delightful afternoon. Come hungry because there are 4 food stops. All delicious! And lots of history. Loved all the tidbits we learned about the Village. And then a special treat. Scones to take home from Pinescones. Made my breakfast special too!

Culinary Tours of the Pines is a delight for the senses! Clearly, Kathy and John Spangler's passion for Pinehurst shines. The tour is a blend of historical, culinary, and professional tidbits which leaves one wanting for more. The chosen resort properties are hosted by talented and welcoming food and beverage experts. I remain in awe of The Deuce's view of the closing hole of the famed Course Two. The Tavern of The Holly Inn prepares taste buds with a generous helping of homemade chips. Just a few steps away, The 1895 touts the area's only four-star rating for its delectables. The Carolina Dining Room is the Grande Dame. The sparkle of its rare glass chandeliers set the ambiance for an intimate dinner for two, a tour group of ten, or a family of more. The signature dessert, Key Lime Pie, reaches nearly to the chandeliers.
This tour is a tasting journey which leaves me wanting a second helping...to revisit the venues, to retrace the historical steps of the tour, and to absorb the knowledge shared by Kathy and John.
My appreciation to all who filled my senses.

My wife and I were traveling to Pinehurst where we have visited many times to enjoy the golf, spa and dining. My wife booked the culinary tour and all four of us loved it. Cathy bent over backwards to accommodate some special dietary needs and her knowledge of the Pinehurst history really made the tour complete. The resort staff were a great complement at each of our tasting spots. They were friendly and the food and drink were awesome. One tip... Don't bother making dinner reservations the day of the tour! We were all so stuffed we couldn't eat that evening. Don't miss out on this great addition to the Pinehurst area.

This was an amazing way to spend a beautiful autumn afternoon touring in and around the Village of Pinehurst. Kathy, our tour guide, was a wealth of information and spoke loudly and clearly as she shared the history of this beautiful village in the pines. We were a group of 15 golf girlfriends visiting from Pittsburgh, PA. There wasn't one thing we didn't like about the tour. The food was fabulous, the length of the tour was perfect at 2-1/2 hours, and the amount of walking was easy and broken up by the individual stops at each of the 5 establishments.
We met our guide in the Donald Ross Grille of the Pinehurst Resort to learn a little about the resort history. We then walked to The Deuce restaurant where we had their house specialty of pulled pork sandwiches and tater tots, paired with a beer. Next was a narrated walk thru the resort town to the village chapel and on to the Holly Inn. We had a beer sampling in the Tavern and then went downstairs to the 1895 Dining Room, for more history about the Holly Inn and met with the chef who talked to us about his most popular slow roasted greens and shrimp and grits dish, which was also paired with a beer. Next stop, The Village Wine Shop, where Gwen the owner, offered us a tasting of 3 of wines. We were happy to be able to ship wine back home. Last stop was the gem of Pinehurst, The Carolina Hotel, where we met the pastry chef, who elaborated on the labor intense creation of the Sky High Key Lime Pie, the dessert specialty of the hotel!
Registration on line for these tours is quick and easy, and necessary if you have a group to keep together, and everything is pre-paid, so it makes it simplified once you meet the tour guide at your first stop. The price point of the tour is a great value for the amount of food and beverages you receive through out the walk. You will NOT be disappointed.

The Classic Pinehurst Tour is $55 and the Sweet and Savory Brunch Tour is $40. Well worth the price.
