- Trish MClemmons, North Carolina10 contributionsSuper food, good wineJolo was recommended by friends at work so my husband and I made a reservation on Open Table and drove 45 minutes to scope it out. The setting is lovely and the interior warm and welcoming. We engaged in a tasting before lunch and were impressed by just how knowledgeable our hostess was. We felt the tasting was over priced, given we did not taste two of the wines. Our meal was delicious! We waited 25 minutes to be served but the wait was worth it. Fall risotto and meat loaf were prepared to perfection. We elected to have water with our meal but observed that others who ordered wine with their meal were offered the opportunity to purchase a bottle of two 'Sold Out' wines. Marketing is marketing and this may not bother some but my husband and I quickly realized that the well-trained staff had been schooled in upselling. Still, the visit was pleasant and made for a neat Sunday experience.Visited January 2020Written January 21, 2020
- Jim CHowell, Michigan15 contributionsBest wine club experienceMy wife and I moved to North Carolina 2 years ago and spent several weekends touring the wineries. Jolo was by far the most friendly and welcoming place. We joined the wine club and thoroughly enjoy the quarterly pick up parties and meeting other members. JW and staff are great. Our membership includes a tasting for 4 and our friends still talk about the experience of meeting JW and doing the tasting with him. The first quarter pick up party in February 2020 was great food and great wine. Very nice to see the gold and platinum wins for Jolo.Visited February 2020Written February 10, 2020
- Jenny McphersonOldsmar, Florida21 contributionsA PERFECT Friday afternoon Winery Escape for (shared) tasting fee of $20? $25?We made a reservation thinking that we would need this for a tasting on a Friday afternoon. we were escorted in by a sweet hostess to table in the DINING room. When it became clear we were there only to taste, Katy smoothly escorted us to the tasting room instead, introduced us to her colleagues, and there we proceeded to have one of the nicest wine tastings that we have had since leaving California in 1997. The staff was exceptional, knowledgeable, quirky fun and the wines were top drawer. It is rare when we buy a 50+ dollar bottle of wine, but we did so at JOLO. We recommend this place very highly, and if it were within 20 miles of where we lived we would take company there for the experience. The owner has a lovely joyful personality and seems very proud of his fine establishment as he keeps watch over it. It was a joy as a businesswoman to watch him work the room/establishment so smoothly and conscientiously.Visited July 2022Traveled with friendsWritten August 1, 2022

This vineyard is an absolute disappointment. We visited it on a Friday around 3:00, in the hopes of beating any type of rush. We were disappointed with everything from the wine to the lack of service. We are still very cautious with the pandemic still ongoing but it was my birthday so we decided to try this vineyard. We were told they would not do flights in lieu of tastings, even though we were going to pay 40.00 per flight. We then told them we felt more comfortable outside with our tasting/flight and were told they could not accommodate. So they lost 80 dollars from the get beginning and they were not busy tat this time. We then decided to blindly pick a bottle based off of the description. The wine was too sweet and it was an expensive mistake, but we were given no other choice but to guess. We then did not see a waiter/waitress for the rest of our time there. My husband went inside to add an item to our dinner order take out order and add a glass of a different wine, in hopes of salvaging my birthday celebration. We waited over 20 minutes without that glass of wine. We went to cancel the glass and pay out tab and there were no apologies or explanations. For an hour and half drive and very large tab we left very disappointed. We will not waist our time or money on Jolo vineyard again. Hopefully we can help you save your time and money. We have had much better experiences at Shelton vineyards & Childress vineyards and their respective restaurants. Their is too much competition in the area for Jolo to treat their customers with such dismissiveness..

JW, Kristen and the entire JOLO team once again provided a fantastical day of appreciation for club members. The food was excellent, the attention and service is hands down the best anywhere. I love it that they know us by name …and of course the wine.
This was our 4th year anniversary month of being club members… it’s a delight to see how they have grown and adapted to a growing membership base.
Praying for a bumper harvest and no weather events. Looking forward to Crimson Creek and Pilot Fog returning to the line up.
Carlous xii was our choice for the day. Rich and yum!
JOLO is a must stop when you are in the area ~ and worth the drive if you aren’t.

Been there a few times and decided to join the wine club. We’ve travels to Napa and CA wine region for 30+ years, belong to a number of CA wine clubs (Ovid, David Author, Chateau Potelle, Chappellet, etc), Jolo club is a great deal, especially for locals. Very good wines, great pick-up parties hosted by the owner who brings knowledge and humor to these events. Great atmosphere overlooking the mountains along with good food and service.

The Vertical Tasting of Crimson Creek was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Owner/winemaker/chef JW Ray guided us through vantages 2016-2019 of JoLo’s award winning Crimson Creek, pairing each vintage with a culinary treat that was as beautiful as the wine. It was artistry of food and wine at its best! Lots of laughter went into the mix, as well! Being a club member at JoLo is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our lives...especially during a pandemic when “fun” is difficult to find!

JoLo Winery is an excellent, classy locale full of deep appreciation for their tasters, club members, and diners. Due to their immense hospitality and blends of great vino, we joined their Premier Club level membership. You won’t find a better place full of great wine, culinary masterpieces, and superb vistas. The owner is top notch who has always been visible, friendly, and present to make you feel welcomed. Moreover, he is a true master of his art in wine making. I would highly recommend this as a place to stop in for a tasting and meal as you won’t be disappointed.

My wife & I enjoyed a very nice visit to JOLO this past weekend. Even though we'd arrived a little earlier than our reservation time, they were able to get us seated pretty quickly. The staff were all doing their best to maintain everybody's "social distance", and nearly everyone had a mask on. The service was quick, and we both really enjoyed our meals.
It was a bit "rushed" feeling during our wine tasting, however. Everyone tried their best to keep up, but the additional strain of maintaining distance meant that the staff had to work a bit harder than they might have otherwise. Very nice wines - a bit more on the "dry" side, but all wonderfully flavorful and enjoyable.

I have enjoyed wineries in California, Oregon, Washington, Texas and Georgia, so I considered myself a winery aficionado. However, I had not expected JOLO to exceed my expectations!! I thought, "How could a winery in Pilot Mt. NC be very good?" Well, it's not very good. It is absolutely exceptional in every way. The architecture, decor, landscape, setting and best of all, amazingly high quality wines blew us away! There are several blends that have been carefully devised and produced that rival anything I have tasted elsewhere. It didn't surprise us to find out that they have won a lot of medals in prestigious competitions on both coasts.
I signed up for the club so I could continue to get the wines delivered to our home in Florida, but would really like to drive up to experience the "pick up" parties!
A real plus was meeting the couple who created this winery and the extra special input that JW brought to the tasting! Club manager Jerry Ann poured and explained in great detail the nuances and varietals of everything we were offered.

Jolo Vineyards is a wonderful outing for anyone who loves wine. The atmosphere is very welcoming. The restaurant was able to accommodate my need for a gluten free meal with ease. The wines are delicious. I am not a wine connoisseur, just a ordinary person who enjoys wine. After tasting the wines, I immediately joined the Jolo Wine club.

We had a great time at the Q1, 2022, wine club pick-up party. JOLO always schedules several dates each quarter to accommodate the wine club membership that has now reached 2400 members. This is a major effort, but Owners JW and Kristen and the entire staff never fail to make everyone feel at home while passionately delivering world class wines, great food and outstanding customer service in a wonderful environment.

You might check their website. They weren't open for
lunch the day I was there and I don't think they reopen
for the season until sometime in February.
