This is a very nice beach. Of course the lifeguards make it much safer. Ocracoke is extremely laid back and a fun place to visit.

Just totally unspoiled, gorgeous sand. Nice ramp to and from beach. Shower and changing facilities. Not crowded because the island isn't in general. Amazing amazing beach.

There aren't many beaches left that are completely undeveloped...no buildings at all. Perfect. The lifeguard beach is a great way to enjoy this pristine area. Parking area, bathrooms and sand showers right off of the beach, and a nice ramp to get to the sand. Lifeguard there during the summer which is great. Stop by The Back Porch Lunchbox or... More

Go at sunrise for the best chance of shelling. Best places for shells are the farthest North point and then park at the Airport and walk towards the southpoint you'll find a good shell line in the morning after high tide!

We really only visited this beach at night, since we had a (CHNS) campsite on the beach and house in town. It was full moon, so we headed the whole 1.5 minutes from town to beach several times after sundown. The beach is spotlessly clean, perfect width from dune to water, there is an ACCESSIBLE RAMP that runs from parking... More

Ocracoke has a natural sloped beach that is great for swimmers, surfers and waders. The sand is very fine grained and gentle on your feet when walking. The life guarded area may get crowded but unless you are a strong swimmer and understand waters with shoals and wells it may save your or your children's lives to stay in this... More

My family loves the water but be advised if you plan on swimming there are some strong cross current right off the beach. We actually used this to our advantage and started high on the beach and floated down to the lifeguarded area. The beach itself is beautiful and we had fund swimming. You should know how to get out... More

Fantastic beach. Read other reviews about there being a long walk. If someone were in a wheelchair or disabled in some way, I could see that being the case. But this was an easy walk consisting of mostly boardwalks (which are cement, actually). It is not a long walk on the sand to plant your umbrella and call it a... More

We totally loved coming over on the Free Ferry Ride from Cape Hatteras! I was surprised just how much this Island was Developed and was Quite a Resort Spot. We enjoyed the Beaches and Touring the Island..was Glad to go back however to Hatteras and finish off our stay in Buxton.

Our favorite beach in the world. We appreciate that the dunes are protected and that you must take the Park Service boardwalk to reach the beach. We pack up all our stuff and make the hike for the day. You can walk north as far as you like to escape the crowds that gather around the lifeguarded area. For the... More
