Had a terrific time on a sunset cruise. The breeze was a bit stiff, but the boat is large enough to handle it. Very highly recommended. Captain Rob works hard for his high ratings and it shows.

This was a highlight of our trip to the Outer Banks. We loved the 1.5 hour Schooner tour full of fun stories and facts about the island. Both girls loved steering the boat. It was definitely unique and fun for all.

Simply paradise, out sailing with just the right amount of wind!
Captain Rob is a solid captain; alert and entertaining.
Unfortunately, I had an accident and couldn’t make the sunset sail.
Next time!

We went out on the sunset cruise onboard the 2 masted schnooner "Windfall" while vacationing on Ocracoke Island, NC. What a great evening! The "Windfall" sails for 1 hr 15 minutes around Ocracoke Inlet, leaving at 7:15 PM. The most beautiful sunset! We watched as the light came on in the Ocracoke Lighthouse just before dark. If you have kids, this is great and a must do. The Captain lets the kids "help" raise the sails and lets anyone who would like, steer the ship. Take your camera! My son had such a great time and is still talking about his "Pirate Ship". They have red sails and fly a pirate flag. The best historian on Ocracoke is the captain. For $30 each, it's the best deal on the island as far as we are concerned.

We went on this cruise during our trip to Ocracoke. It was fantastic!! It was a relatively inexpensive activity to do on the island. Captain Rob was an excellent host. We were even lucky enough to have dolphins come up and jump out of the water near the boat. My daughter could help out in raising the sails, and do some hands on things. Our family really enjoyed this.

Don't miss the chance for a sunset cruise with Capt. Rob. In addition to being a very experienced and knowledgeable sailor, he's also an excellent storyteller which only added to our enjoyment of the trip. On the evening we sailed, Capt. Rob's son was the first mate who made contributions not only to the work of sailing but also to the stories and conversation.
Beyond the pleasant atmosphere on board, of course, were the amazing views of Ocracoke Harbor and the peacefulness of being on the water.
This is an experience I would HIGHLY recommend.

My husband and I rode the Schooner Windfall while in Ocracoke on vacation for a week. We did the sunset tour ($25/person for 1 hr 15 min. cruise). This was the first time either of us had been on a sailboat and it was a great experience. The Captain is an Ocracoke native and very nice. You head out of the harbor into the Pamlico Sound to watch the sunset. Very relaxing experience, good views of the island. We had a wonderful time, very memorable.

Capt'n Rob Temple knows his sailing, the area waters, and history. Spiced with his down east Carolina humor, Rob will spin a yarn about the local pirates, past & present, of Ocracoke Island. Instructing how to handle the helm of the Windfall II, he will invite passengers to steer. This is a fabulous trip for any age.

And that's saying something, because we had a great time on Ocracoke. But sailing at sunset on the Windfall II was the best part. It's a rather small schooner with only room for 6, so much depends on the other guests. We were lucky--just one other couple who were charming and even shared their wine. We sailed the calm waters between the barrier island and the mainland. Everybody got a chance to take the wheel. The skies were magnificent. Our Captain told good stories. The price is on the high side for Ocracoke boat trips, but well worth it.

Thanks for the great review. It's always fun to see complete strangers come together for a sail and end up sharing their wine and their stories. It's one of the reasons I never tire of these trips. We hope to se you again on your next visit to Ocracoke!

What a cool way to see Ocracoke, from the inlet in a schooner with just 5 people aboard. We took an afternoon hour and a half trip and it was beautiful, informative and relaxing.

How many people can you hold for a wedding? We're looking at maybe 15-20, st the most people including the groom and I. We really want wedding on a ship, it'll be a pirate steampunk wedding, so having near teach's hole would be great!

Hi, rg1957s. What would you like to know about this attraction?
I am taking my 82 year old parents to the island, and thinking about taking a Schooner windfall cruise , is hard for the elderly to board and exit the Schooner?
Thanks
