What can we say?! As we walked up to the lighthouse, a man named Bob asked if we would like to see inside before he locked up? Of course, we said “yes!” He gave us a short history lesson and sold us a couple of items. He offered us bottles of water! He told us that he was an “Eagle Scout” many years ago. He layed on the ground on his back to take the best picture of us! What a great experience! Thanks!

Free tour, easy email sign up. Don’t go IF afraid of heights or can’t climb ladders. Great challenge AND awesome view from the top. Don’t forget to look through the windows on the way back down. Hot and humid, very sticky and no bathroom. We did 1st available time in the morning since parking is time limited and scarce. We parked in beach access and walked to lighthouse.

Still great to see up close, it was closed when we visited this past weekend. It does say you can schedule a tour 2 weeks in advance. The boardwalk however is being rebuilt and the beach access parking is closed. That leaves 2 regular parking spots and 1 handicap spot to visit.

This is a nice visit. The boardwalk has many signs providing interesting information. The lighthouse is attractive and a good photo shot. Call well in advance for reservations if you want to climb it. Nice views of the ocean too.

I had been to Oak Island quite a few times but had never made a stop at the lighthouse. It's definitely a nice place to visit for a little stroll and some photo opportunities. There is a parking lot and a lovely boardwalk.

The lighthouse is staffed and run by volunteers. We booked a climb to the top in advance. The lighthouse has 'ships ladders' and not the typical spiral staircases as found in many lighthouses. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The view from the top is worth the climb. You can see Bald Head island and lighthouse from this lighthouse. There is no charge, but they except donations. All donations are tax deductible as well. They have t-shirts and hats available as well.

Had Monday off and drove over to Caswell Beach. The light house wasn’t open but we were able to look at it and take some pictures. There are only a few close parks so glad it wasn’t a busy day. Also walked across the street and enjoyed a nice walk on the beach and found some shells. It is a neat little day visit.

A very new Lighthouse in comparison to others but good looking all the same. If you want to visit this and climb to the top you will have to give 2 weeks advance notice. Public "no reservation required" free tours to the second level (NOT to the top) are offered every Wednesday and Saturday (10 AM - 2 PM) Parking is very limited only 5 spaces and 30mins parking only.

An easy drive takes you to Oak Island and the lighthouse built in 1958. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting. Steep ship stairs let you climb to the top if you want to partake in this (advance reservations). There is a small boardwalk across the street for photos and seeing the beach. Parking is very tight and the lot is small. Seeing the lighthouse is free but there is a donation box. A pleasant 15-20 minute stop (if you don't climb).
