Awesome dog friendly beach!

Great beach! Loved that you can have your dogs ON the beach and IN the water year round! There is public parking all over. The only downfall was the lack of hose or outdoor shower access....wish we had somewhere to hose our dog off, or even our feet. Also, didn't see any public bathrooms - just something to keep in... I enjoyed my dip in the ocean!!! The beaches were very secluded down Caswell Road. I especially enjoyed sitting out on the beach house deck and watching the huge container ships traverse the Cape Fear River near Southport, North Carolina as they headed out to sea and various ports of call. Oak Island is a very beautiful place to visit!!!

Some of the best sand in NC without the crowds you see at Myrtle Beach. Fishing from shore not so good. Great place to walk your dogs especially in the spring, fall and winter.

What can you say when you spend time on the beach? It was amazing as the beach was clean, zero crowds, water perfect and cold drinks. Coffee at sunrise and Beer at sunset.

We came here for a week and had a great time. The beaches are very dramatic as they change in a huge way according to the tides. People were uniformly friendly and the water was really warm. You will need an umbrella as the NC sun is intense. Terrific place to listen to the surf and read.

The beaches on Oak Island are beautiful, and not at all crowded. The beaches face South, so you have the added attraction of being able to see both sunrise and sunset over the ocean.

The beaches here are very nice. Wasn't crowded on a Thursday evening. Very peaceful and plenty of signage pointing to the beach. The negatives are that there was very little parking. I saw no public restrooms or trash cans. The town seems a little tired and traffic can be quite heavy on the main drag.

My wife and I have been to beaches all over the world. We always thought Bermuda was the best. But Caswell beach. On oak island. Comes close. Relatively vacant lifeguard free. Alcohol tolerant. And a nautical beach combined with great ocean swimming We live here part time so I may be prejudiced but this beach is one of a kind.
