My wife and I visited this establishment while on our anniversary trip to the NC mountains.
They wanted to be different.... and they ARE.... in a very pleasing way!
Most of their wines are on the sweeter side. Not necessarily my style; but none the less, they had great flavor.
The staff was very fun, friendly, and accommodating. We enjoyed hanging out and talking about wine & life.
If we make it back to the area... we would love to visit again!

My husband and I made a killer road trip out of a visit to Belle Nicho, South Creek and Silver Fork vineyards which are all a few miles apart. Brought crackers and cheese to each tasting and lingered in each place so we could stay sober and drive safely to the next tasting. Beautiful scenery in between them for your drive. It was one of those perfect vacation days you talk about years later and a great way to turn a one-day break into a quick, much needed chill out vacation day minus the kids.

We came here last year on the Fall "Wine Hop" and I won a $25 gift certificate as an attendance price so we stopped here on our way to Hickory. We spent the $25 and then some. Some very good wines and a nice little tasting room. Not far off the beaten path so to speak. Worth the stop!

We went here on a whim because we saw the sign and the other winery we had planned to go to wasn't open until 1. We were pleasantly surprised. Bridget was welcoming and knowledgeable. We are not normally sweet wine drinkers but her wines really were delicious. We ended up buying a bottle of the Seyval Blanc and enjoying a picnic on the back patio of the winery. I thought that the prices were excellent - especially in comparison with other wineries we have visited. I would highly recommend visiting Belle Nichol.

They call themselves a "developing winery" producing wines from French-American hybrids, native grapes, and vinifera. I call them a boutique winery. If you like sweet wines, this is the place to go! The name of the farm is Howling Dog Farm. Their labels have a howling white dog driving a tractor-it's so cute! The folks are friendly and unpretentious. The tasting room is tiny, there is outdoor seating. They have Roots & Branches crackers (best cracker ever made!). Tasting is 6 wines for $6. My mother loved S'Nice, an ice wine, and the Sweet Dog Red (portion of sales goes to local animal group). Also nice are the Catawba and the Rose. Their Facebook page lists the hours as 12-5 Thursday-Sunday.

Lovely people, delicious wine, quaint mountain views. We sat, enjoyed a wine tasting, bought some strawberry rhubarb wine, enjoyed conversation and awesome local band played/sang some fantastic tunes. Beautiful afternoon for this mom and dad on a weekend trip sans the kids.

This is a small winery, but the friendliness and hospitality is second to none. You interface directly with the owner and the wine is very good. It tends to be on the sweet side, but I believe it makes for great sipping while sitting on your deck.
