We took our labradoodle for a 4 mile walk on the greenway. It was beautiful. It goes right along side the river. Paved and very clean. The manhole hubs have been artistically painted by locals and they are amazing! What a great idea! If you go from end to end it's 7 miles, so a 14 mile out and back.

Granite City Greenway.....sooooo nice!
Such a fun afternoon, round trip bicycle ride—-out and back about 13 miles. Very little elevation change , paved, along a meandering waterway, and just brief views of businesses along the way keeps this an enjoyable adventure.

On the cusp of downtown Mount Airy, NC is a nice public park that really thinks out-of-the-box. The playground has plenty of swings and sliding boards, there is a sprawling concrete skate park, restrooms, hiking & biking trails, a nice picnic area (with shelters), soccer & basketball - and even a canoe launch for the Ararat River.
This is SO nice for family and friends.

Easy parking and easy access to walking & biking greenway that runs throughout the entire town. Plenty of picnic shelters too.

As a Mt Airy resident I bike this trail in the park whenever weather permits. In all it covers about an 8 mile loop. The park entrance on Riverside drive has restrooms, skating area, and a really cool playground with replicas of the town of Mt Airy -- too cute and my grandkids love it. Great signage. The trail is about 12 ft wide, all paved and very scenic, running along a river and a creek most of the way, Fishing is permitted. There is an entrance with two soccer fields, and several near shopping centers. Easy on and off, oodles of parking. Perfect for walking easy biking with only a few hills.

In addition to the wonderful walking trails that wind along the river, there are many activities for kids. Huge playground, skate park, basketball courts, soccer fields, etc...

The park is an access point to the greenway that runs along the Ararat River. The park itself is very nice. They have a terrific playground area for young kids, fields, picnic facilities, etc. It is maintained very well. We were here to access the greenway which is an asphalt path for walkers, bikers and dogs on a leash. It runs about 5 miles one way, along the river, and it offers splendid river views. Can't say enough nice things about it. One negative: avoid the bathrooms...as you might expect at a park...not so nice.

Great park for walking, riding bikes, kiddos have a wonderful playground with covered seating for parents. There are restrooms and picnic/concessions, but there was a big crowd for an outing and we didn't go to that area.
