We visited downtown Mount Airy while in Charlotte for medical reasons. Friends took us to see this little town. We were there the day after Christmas and the majority of businesses were closed. We were really disappointed since it was such a beautiful day. Owning a mom and pop store in Alaska we learned you will not sell anything if the open sign is not on. We did get to eat at the Hunt Brother's Pizza and burger place which was very busy and very good. We visited s couple of the antique shops and got some good deals. Store after store that were closed had people looking in to see what was offered inside. It was sad to see the closed stores knowing how bad business has been this year.

We were in town of Friday 11/20. We had a nice lunch and were able to walk around downtown for quite a while. The area is very pleasant and has the small town charm. Our only complaint was that a large majority of the stores were closed. Snappy Lunch Closed, Toyland Closed, Gift Shop Closed, etc. We went into whatever was open, Candy Store, Antique Shops but were disappointed most were closed. WE hope to come back when more is open. We really want the squad car tour.

We were in the area and ended up strolling the streets of Mt Airy. It is a beautiful little country town with lots of shops and restaurants all using the Andy Griffith scene as the draw. We enjoyed our time here.

Fun little town. Many people were aware of pandemic with masks which was enlightening. Cute little shops with great Mayberry remembrances. Barneys Burger, Floyds Barber Shop and a great ice cream parlor with Moonshine Ice cream. Fun day. Of course, be sure to eat at Snappy's. He is cooking the pork chop sandwich in the window. It was delicious.

Its like walking back in time just a little. If you like the simpler times of Andy and Barney, Mt. airy is worth a trip. Some cool stores and memorabilia.
