This is still an operating barber shop!! Both barbers were off the day we visited, but the lady there was very well versed in the history of the shop. It is full of "Mayberry" memorabilia. If you are downtown, this is a must see!

We visited a day when the barber was out so we were able spent more time with the owner, Floyd's son. The thousands of pictures on the wall are a testament to how many visit.

This is a cute stop in Mount Airy. My brother is a big fan and the owner talked him for quite a while. The owners father used to cut Andy Griffith's hair and was very friendly. My brother was so pleased to talk to him. Then we took pictures in the chair and they took pictures for their facebook page.... More

Mr. Hiatt the original owners son was there and was happy to tell us about the history of the shop and his dad. Happy to pose for pics too.

We have been here before. WONDERFUL people. Husband is VERY picky about his barber and haircut. They followed his instructions perfectly and his hair looked great. They always take your picture and display them or post them online.

We visited Floyds Barbershop during Mayberry Days and found it a very friendly place. We met Bill who made us fill right at home. I had my photo taken in one of the barbers chair with Bill standing beside me. It is a must visit place.

We stopped by during our walk along the Main Street in Mt. Airy. Lots of pictures of people getting their hair cut. We were told a story that before Floyd passed, the Fire Dept Chief wouldn't let him post any more pictures for fear of a fire hazard. So he started putting them up at home. Someone was actually getting... More

We visited Floyds and found out he passed away May, 2016. His son is filling his place. My husband asked about the board for children. He showed it and said it was as old as the chair. A younger woman with her small son was watching, and said her son sits on her lap for a haircut. She had not... More
