The ladies were great to us and told us where to go and what to do. Facilities here if you need them. Maps as well. Ester went with us on the bus and gave us a tour. She was a local and was a natural born story teller. Loved her and she made the tour fun!

The gentleman we encountered when we stopped in at the beginning of our first-time visit to Mt. Airy was very helpful. He even called down to Wally's to schedule our squad car tour for us. It's worth stopping here if you've never been to Mt. Airy before.

Before you check out the town, check in here!
They were great, answered all our questions, made excellent suggestions.
Lots of fliers and pamphlets, everything to do in town and the surrounding area.
Located right down town on the main drag, tons of stuff within walking distance.
Overall a great experience including the clean restrooms!

We had barely walked in the door when an older blonde lady at the other end of the room nearly shouted at us, "Do y'all want a map?" Of course we said yes but we wanted to look at some of the brochures for various attractions. Once we approached her desk, we couldn't get away to look for those brochures. She kept talking, even though we told her no, we weren't interested in the squad car tour or the granite quarry; she went on yammering. We finally just said okay and took the map & left. Trip advisor's information was so much more helpful!

We have driven past this town many times and finally stopped. What a nice place to visit. Very much like the Mayberry we expected. In one store a group of local men had gathered to play guitars, banjo, fiddle--just local residents getting together Saturday morning. All shop owners were very friendly.

It's near the house where Andy grew up at. I feel it's a great place to stop in at to start your tour. The ladies are extremely hospitable and informative. Very much a help in guiding you to all the attractions and places to go while there in Mt. Airy/ Mayberry.

We spent a few hours in Mt. Airy on our way through NC and it made for an enjoyable afternoon. Go first to the Visitor Center and speak to one of the ladies there: we spoke to Esther (I think...started with an E). She clued us in as to what closes first, how much everything costs (one of the sites was free that day), and just about anything else you want to know about Mt. Airy. In keeping with their friendly culture, free parking was plentiful. (We were there during the week).

All the info you need about the area is in this one spot. Everyone there was so helpful. They informed us of all the events that were taking place in the area. Also which spots were a must see. They have all kinds of maps and brochures to help you decide where you want to go and what you want to see.

We were just wandering down the street and didn't realize we were in front of the visitor center until this friendly lady asked if we were visitors and to come on in. She was so sweet and helpful, answering all our questions, recommending places/things to go/do and providing us with the necessary brochures to help plan our day. Thanks so much for all your help and being so nice and friendly!

If your going to Mayberry, I mean Mount Airy, you should stop by the visitors center and get all the info you could ever want about this little town.
The gentleman and woman that were there were so friendly and helpful. They pointed out all the places to go and sites to see. They recommended restaurants to try and we weren't disappointed with anything they suggested.
There's tons of flyers and brochures to pick and choose from.
This is a great little town with lots of history, some real, some fictional. NO, the Andy Griffith show was not filmed there, but it could have been.
So if your in the area make a point to stop by and say HEY to goober. Or just take a leisurely stroll down Main Street and try to remember what Main Street USA was all about.
We shall be back!!
