I just did their latest room, Baker St. It's my favorite of theirs so far (followed closely by NC Photo Hunt). Great variety of clues. Leah was an excellent game host as well! If you're new to escape rooms, do NC Photo Hunt or the Brewery before Geek Room or Baker St, for sure, but all are fun!

Took my 2 girls plus 8 of their teammates for my daughter's birthday to do the Geek room. (Ranged in age from 7-12th grade) We could not see them but could hear them throughout from the lobby and they were hilarious. Staff explained the rules and goals very clearly. And staff can see but not hear the participants (unless they are super loud like our group was). The kids did not make it out - missed by 2 steps. But they came out laughing and talking a mile a minute comparing notes and analyzing the steps they missed. They talked about it the whole way home.

Would absolutely recommend this!! $25.00 per person is the going rate at most of the escape places but don't let the price scare you off. It's worth it for the experience!

This was our third escape room and our second one at Cipher Escape. We have yet to make it out of a room, but we keep getting closer!

Cipher Escape is definitely our favorite... the puzzles are so good! They're hard, but solvable. The first room we did was the Geek Room and it was a great foray into the escape room "culture". The one we did this time was Baker Street Green, and we all agreed that it was even better than the Geek room. Every person in our party had something significant they contributed, and we all worked together to solve all the puzzles. The sequence of puzzles was very linear, and we almost always could tell what needed to be done next.

If you're thinking of doing an escape room, stop thinking about it and do it. I hope we'll do another one in a couple of months for my birthday. Maybe the Brewery room next time. :)

While a fun experience, if you manage to escape the room and beat the winning time, don't expect them to give you the record.

My group managed to open the door to the "geek" room at 50 minutes, but were told that our time didn't matter because we didn't solve all the puzzles and escape in the way they expected.

What we did do was solve 5 of the six and then tried 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc for our missing digit on the door combination.

Oddly their website faq clearly says "...keep looking at the riddle and keep trying any possible combination."

Beating the record time to "escape" and then being told we didn't "escape" properly, was a poor ending to a fun evening.

We tried the North Carolina picture escape room on New Years Eve. It's $25 per person, and there is a maximum of 6 people in that particular room. You are given 60 minutes to solve a series of challenges to open the various lock boxes and find the combination to turn off the alarm to the door. (The door to the room remains unlocked, in case anyone is claustrophobic, has a bathroom need, or needs to take an emergency phone call from the sitter.). The challenges primarily revolve around finding clues around the room and figuring out which information you need to progress. The room is monitored with a camera, and you have a walker talkie with which you can request up to three clues, which are displayed on a tv monitor in the room. The room monitor was kind, enthusiastic, and helpful. We had a great experience and plan to go back to try a different room for my son's birthday. It's best for ages 8 and up.

We decided to do a little more than just hanging out for our girls' weekend and played the introductory room. We had a blast. Three of us live in NC, but none of us are FROM NC. It was a blast! We found all the clues and escaped with a little time to spare. I'd be happy to plan another visit for our next girls' weekend in the Raleigh area.

Our group of 11 did the Geek Room, which we understood from the host had been open since March and only had a 13 percent success rate. We ended up among the 87 percent that failed to escape, but what a blast it was! Whether you do the escape challenge with close friends or someone you just met, it would be hard to not enjoy the hour you'll spend trying to solve the challenges that open the locks that allow you to succeed in leaving the room in under the hour time limit. The idea in the room we were in is you are taking care of the neighbor's cat in their house while they are away, and you lock yourself in by accident. As you sort thru the contents in the room, you uncover dozens of clues through solving puzzles and riddles, which give you the codes and keys to open locks which give the next level of clues. The facility itself is tucked away near Lake Crabtree, and at night a bit secluded. The host that greeted us and facilitated the escape room challenge is wonderful! If you have a group of people looking for something to do together, this should be at the top of your list!

This was our first room escape, will definitely come back and try a different room. I would recommend coming in groups of 6-10. It's really interesting seeing how your friends tackle clues/puzzles differently. We had 12 and it got a little too packed in there.

The puzzles don't really require you to be smart, just very observant and able to piece clues together.

This morning we were looking for an activity that would interest my husband, myself, and our 14 and 12-year-olds (an eye-rolling, tough audience). We stumbled upon Cipher Escape from the Raleigh CVB website. You are locked in a room filled with hidden clues and you have an hour to unravel the puzzles and escape. We were cocky and thought we wouldn't have any trouble--it was tougher than we expected! But each of us had different skills to contribute and together we almost made it! I could not recommend this higher. We had a marvelous time and can't wait to go back and try the harder room next time!

As a world traveler that also does escape rooms all over the world as well I may be a bit more critical. The facility is a bit off beaten path; has a clean waiting area and fair selection of rooms. The room itself was well themed but fairly easy to complete. I would suggest it for beginners/intermediate escapees.
