If we are local, and went with some family members. We went one for the experience of walking through the orchard and we’re just going to pick two or three apples. Apparently you have to buy an empty ‘container’, that being a plastic bag. Whether you are picking one or 12 apples, you have to pay the same price. Also, there is an entrance fee, which is understandable. But The Container was a bit odd as we were willing to pay the fee to go in! Customer service is very unfriendly. But the 3 apples in our ‘container’ were delicious. And the apple cider was out of this world.!

I go every year to get apples because it’s not far from where I live. Every year I wonder why I go back. The customer service is lacking as is the selection of quality apples that are already picked. Other goods are over priced. Only go if you want to go out into the orchard to pick your own apples with kids.

Beautiful orchard with lots of variety of apples. Some weren’t ready to pick so if you want something special make sure it’s ready ahead of time. Great maps to help you find the apples. The shop was really cute to wonder around. The apples are delicious

Many things have changed this year, but the quality of apples at Apple Hill Orchard has not! No tractor tours of the orchard this year due to social distancing, but still very worthy of a trip.

Great fun to pick you own apples from many varieties, or to buy yummy apples, cider, jams, and all things apple. Nice, helpful people. Great fun for the whole family.

We stopped here on our way to the Smoky's. This orchard is delightful, we didn't have enough time to pick our own, so we just bought a bag of mixed apples. They were delish, we also bout a gallon of cider, doughnuts, apple butter and fried pie. All of which were wonderful. On our vist there was a school group there also and we could here the employee explaining how cider was made to the children all who were paying attention which surprised us. The staff were so friendly and we will be going back

A very large orchard with many varieties of apples to pick and enjoy. The store is large and well stocked and maintained. The apple cider donuts are a bonus!

This orchard is a reall family experience and it is worth taking a drive to join the fun. Open in the late summer, through early December, it is very busy on the weekends with families and lots of kids out to experience apple picking, a hayride, or just shopping in the little apple store on site. They offer various apple treats like frozen slushees, apple cider, apple fritters, apple doughnuts, jams and preserves of all sorts. It is a family-run operation and everyone on staff is friendly, patient, and helpful. They specialize in having school children and preschool little ones come in for some fun learning adventures that include a ride around the orchard in a wagon pulled by a tractor, where they stop in various sections and talk a bit about the apples growing there. Check their website for dates when different varieties will be available in the store or for pick-your-own gathering.

I was on the hunt for a cider mill that also made cider doughnuts on site. Score! Close to home in Morganton, Apple Hill features some of the best cider I've ever had (bought 6 gallons to take some home and freeze), fresh doughnuts, fried apple pies, other great baked goods, jams & jellies, butters...lots to see and eat!

It was the beginning of Fall 2019 and we were up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stopped at one of our favorite orchards there but were disappointed with the apples that were available. We had lunch in Little Switzerland and headed back to Lenoir NC. via Morganton NC. One of the members of our group remembered an orchard in Morganton so we stopped by. WOW! Are we glad we did. The cider, apples and food items were all incredible. The HoneyCrisp apples were out of this world. There were also a large selection of other apples to choose from so we bought a number of them. The cider was fantastic.
Our friends went back again this weekend (we visited on a week day) and it was so packed there was a line waiting for a parking spot. The word is obviously out.
You can't go wrong stopping here. Your taste buds will thank you.
