Trails are overgrown and parking lot was trashy. Not at all like last year's visit. Never very busy except on weekends.

Mayo River may not be a large state park in North Carolina, but it brings along with it the history of what this land was used for before becoming a state park. The picnic area and restrooms were clean, as well as the land. Its...More

My lofty goal of visting 40 NC state parks brought me here. It is a new park and I assume has some future plans. Not much here. However, there is a nice 2 mile loop trail.

There is a short trail around the lake, and a loop trail in the woods about 1.5 miles. The trails are easy and well maintained.
