I booked the snow tubing experience as part of a weekend trip with a couple of girlfriends. It was a lot smaller than we expected but we decided to make the most of it. We originally booked a 2 hour slot starting at 1pm but when we arrived, the weather was impacting the slope.

We spoke to the owner, Tim, who told us we were more than welcome to snow tube at our original time or we could come back that evening / next day when the weather was colder and the slope was better. At the time, most people weren't sliding all the way down as the snow was too soft. He said he would honour our original tickets and even refunded us for one friend who couldn't make it. We really appreciated his honesty about the situation and how he was more than accommodating.

We returned in the evening and had the first hour on the slope to ourselves. Tyler, the young boy who worked there, was super sweet and taught us how to snow tube different ways. Tim also came up and gave us a spin!

Despite it not being exactly what we envisioned and it's more for kids, we had a really good time and enjoyed the time together thanks to Tim and Tyler. They were lovely and I have to say, doing the snow tubing at night was so much better than during the day. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of going just for something fun to do if you don't want to commit to skiing or a bigger slope.

Parking: Free and right next to the hill which was perfect so you can see it at all times and access if needed
Bathroom: There was a toilet on site but unsure as to whether it was just for staff. Didn't see a clear sign.
Refreshments: There were a few snack / drink options for sale inside the office where you check in

The slope also had a conveyer belt you stood on to help you bring the tube back to the top after sliding down. You need to climb a few wooden stairs to get to the top of the ramp. They can get slippy after some time so be careful.

I just felt the need to post this review as the Wolf Ridge Lodge Ski Resort is misleading. This is NOT the beautiful ski resort pictured on the website. This is down the street somewhere with a very small hill. A smaller hill than the tubing place we passed on the road before getting here. They require only reservations 24 hours before the day so you don’t have time to reserve and back out. And they are non-refundable so you cannot get your money back when you get here and see the one you passed down the street is bigger. It’s a pretty big bait and switch. It’s settled in the middle of a junk yard with the smell of animal poop wafting over you as you tube down. There are two donkeys tied up next door. And they burn a huge fire on cold days that the smoke causes you to gag as you are tubing.
The reason I am giving three stars rather than 1 is that the people running the place are super nice and friendly, and it was nice they allowed 5 and under free. My 3 year old would probably not been able to tube anywhere else so that was nice. Also my kids did have a blast! My main complaint is that they are deceiving people on their website. They should just say who they are and charge less. There is still a market for that. They do not supervise whether you crash at the bottom of the hill and you have to carry your own tube back up to the top. Just an FYI before you pay online before you get there. We drove an hour away to get there to be a little disappointed. Also, their snack shack is literally a shack, not a restaurant. Nice for locals but too much money and effort for people coming from out of town.

We just got back from a day trip to Wolf Ridge Resort and was not disappointed. It has been thirty years since I skied here. I have skied most of the resorts in NC, TN. and many resorts out west. First, we rented our gear at Wolf Den, just three miles before you get to the ski resort( Friendly and no wait). We got there a little early so we grabbed a bite to eat. A large cup of chili and a large cheeseburger was reasonably priced.
We got our lift tickets (Cheapest I have ever see anywhere) and journeyed to the slopes. We never waited in line at the quad lift. We did not have many options of trails but we got our satisfaction. I am somewhat amused at the many people were did not enjoy their trip in fear of covid. First, the line was outside to get tickets. MOST people had masks. Those who didn't were socially distanced. Inside, employees either had on masks or were behind plexiglass. If you are afraid of getting sick, stay home.
My takeaways from my trip to Wolf Ridge
1. You get what you pay for. For the price, this was a bargain.
2. Friendly staff
3. Food- Hit the spot and did not break me.
4. Not crowded on a weekday
5. Abundant space to sit, eat, watch skiers along with a couple of fireplaces.
Do your homework, review area ski resorts. compare then Then you won't be disappointed with what you get.

Wanted to take our girls to experience skiing for the first time. This is a moderate slope, lower priced ski experience with easy access from Asheville. The use of the word resort is comical. The equipment is old, poles are dirty and mismatches and the equipment rental experience is horrific. Plan to stand in a chaotic line for 1.5 hours in a narrow, over crowded barn even with reservations. Staff members and many customers were not masked and despite signage employees were not enforcing masking or social distancing of guests. I would also not recommend paying for group lessons as a lesson had 25+ people with people joining that had not paid. The grounds up the ski lift had overflowing trash and beer cans.
With all of the negative, I can say the skiing itself was sufficient for our girls to learn but we would recommend strongly considering other options.

If you don’t care about Covid-19 this is your place. They say a lot about wearing masks and social distancing but nothing is enforced. We stood in line packed inside for 1 hour and a a half of the 2 and a half hours it took to get our equipment. This is after they took our money and sent us to the wrong line to get our equipment.
They had no one managing the lines and people kept skipping. No one enforcing masks. The staff just ignoring everything and clearing under stress from the amount of people.
Greed took over here and there were way too many people ok with this experience. I came her because of the reviews but to learn that it was just falsehood.
I will never return to this place ever and believe that if you are going to advertise your Covid protocol then you need to enforce it.
This is not the end for me..... time to report them to the state.
If you are going to spend over $400 to have your family of 4 ski and spend 2 hours and half hours in line and then only 2 hours on the slopes because of the crowds. Not worth it. Truly a Disappointment.

The staff was extremely polite, patient and so much fun. Yes the looks are a bit a bit deceiving with the mud and parking. But DID YOU SNOW TUBE? ABSOLUTELY. Even the other guests were so pleasant. My six year old had a blast. The owners wore masks and as fas as other guests...just stay with your crew. The owners even suggested dinner at Twisted Lauren and another spot. Also delicious.

Never been snow skiing and wanted to give it a shot. I felt this was a perfect spot for 1st timers. We took the hour group lessons ($25-) and they reviewed the basics of what you need to get going. Ran thru a couple of trial runs with us, then you’re on your own. We had a blast!! Skiing isn’t easy thats for sure and be prepared to fall, but we can’t wait to go again next year. Only thing I would have liked to gone earlier in Feb as the snow was starting o melt and becoming slushy. I would def recommend renting the bib jumper or at least have on some type of water proof pants as you will get wet when falling. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

We came from Florida to our winter break. I did some online hunting and found this place was just over an hour from Lake Lure where our cabin was! Drive from Lake Lure to Wolf was STUNNING - mountain views and very charming location. My entire family had never skied and we had an absolute BLAST at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort and Tubing!!! My kids took their first ski lesson with Hawkin and Erin and they were so great with our kids. The boys really took to them and learned a lot! We also did the 1hour tubing at the bottom of the mountain and what a great time it was! The guys at the top helped lock our tubes together so we could slide fast in groups of four. The ramp was perfect and really picked up speed. We went likely a dozen times each of us! Friendly staff and great day for all was had. Thank you so very much for spending time with us every step of the way. Sharon was amazing by email as I had questions about my 4 year old skiing. Ticket sales member was friendly and helpful, the girls in the snack shake sweet and friendly, the folks helping with gear knowledgable and very kind. Can't wait to visit again.

This place was amazing. It’s old school, the parking lot was all mud and there is no beer. BUT the price is right, it’s cozy and clean inside, they have decent food at good prices and the slopes are amazing.

When going to the larger surrounding slopes, you are hit with a huge price, huge crowds and food that breaks the bank.

Don’t come here for fancy accommodations and high end food. Come here if you want to ski great runs, at a good price!

Where do I begin. We bought tickets online but when we got there we still had to wait in the line with everyone who were buying tickets there and the line took 50 minutes. Then we went in and it was chaos to get our skis and get out to the slopes. No one was social distancing and and I watched numerous people pick up the same pen before it was sanitized. The slopes were fun, but were very crowded and there was a wait to get on the ski lift. Then we went to get lunch and the cook was touching everything with his bare hands, the cheese and and chicken tenders at least. There were no places to eat so we ended up eating on the floor. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because it seemed like they were not expecting yesterday to be so busy, but it was very disorganized and you had to wait in a line for everything.
