It took us about 2 hours to buy lift tickets in one line, rent boots in another line and then go outside to another building to rent skis. The conditions were not good because it was warm but we had fun and the lines at the chairlifts moved quickly.

This is one of the better NC ski resorts I've visited. Staff was friendly and for most of the day, great snow with one exception. The Lower Omigosh blue trail had ice everywhere. It appeared one person even got hurt. It's a shame because it was a blue run I could ski and also due to drought, fewer than normal... More

You drive up a short hill and are shuttled from the parking lots to the lodge. Once inside you fill out a short questionnaire (height, weight, experience, etc.) and pay for your gear rentals and lift tickets. Next you wait in a quick line for shoes, lock up your belongings in lockers that cost 3 quarters, and walk outside about... More

I've been skiing at Cataloochee for a few years now and having worked and skied in Montana, I was happy to find Cataloochee after a few other trips to local resorts. The trip to the mountain is easy ( no 4x4 needed), parking is standard, and the skiing is challenging with fun and diverse terrain. I would recommend bringing lunch... More

We put our 4 & 5-year olds in the HEAD kids adventure program for their first ski experience. We checked in on time and they got the kids fully geared up in ski boots and a helmet. Then, they sat at a table for over an hour waiting to get started. This may work for older kids, but for the... More

We had such a great time skiing. The prices are inexpensives. They need a little more organization for the clothing and skii rental. First you get the tickes, then you get the boots, then you have to go to the second floor to cruise through a store to go to rent the bibs and jackets. Then take the boots out... More

We were a family group of 5 adults and 2 small children driving from Sylva. That was the easy part. We got there without breakfast and we ate in the cafeteria, not too many options to choose from but it solved the problem. Then we started making lines and more lines. First tickets, then rentals, boots first and in a... More
