The ride up the mountain is memorable. You never know what you'll see. We have seen elks, Dpes with bay elk, bear and wild turkey. Enjoy the hiistoric village (circa 1903) with the one room schoolhouse, church, home and more. We always bring a picnic...More

We found the locals at the base to be wonderful, kind, friendly people. (Great restaurants and service.) Then we went to the mountain to ski....... eeeks! Do not recommend to anyone. Terrible experience with crabby employees who provided advice that we did not need helmets...More

Very pretty not as big as Beech Mountain or App. Ski Mt. But very beautiful. The roads were nicer and not as touristy as the other in the area.

It was our first time skiing. Lessons a must. Great instructor. The lines were ridiculous. All day. Hours in each line to get equipment. Management needs to get it together.

We stayed at the A Holiday Motel that is off the main strip close to the road for Cataloochee. Older motel that has been remodeled, very clean and warm, but no hot tub on site.
