I go to Cat Mountain every year. Partly due to the quality of the Ski area and partly due to the convenience. The lodge is nothing to write home about, the food is even less but remember why you came here. The skiing is pretty good, the runs are very fun but all are on the short end of the... More

Surprisingly good for the South. Pretty good variety of slopes. My only complaint would be that the lift (to the top) seems to spend more time stopped than moving. I get that people fall near the lift, trouble getting on or off, safety, blah blah... it's just stopped WAY TOO OFTEN and for WAY TOO LONG lots of times when... More

Cataloochee is a great ski destination in this area. I think a bit pricey but the slopes are nice and the place is always clean. Great staff that are friendly and willing to help.

Cataloochee is an icy patch of ground barely worthy of visiting. If you happen to be in the area for another attraction, it may be worth a few hours just to get on the slopes, but I would not recommend piling the kids in for hours of driving for this place. I worked there for several years off and on,... More

Some people turn there noses up at Cataloochee. It cannot be compared to the slopes in W. VA or out West. However, if you are from the SE and you want to teach your kids or your boyfriend to ski without driving or flying hours and spending lots of money, this is a great little place! They offer everything you... More

We go occasionally for dinner, take friends there, don't spend the night because we live within walking distance.

Second time I've gone skiing. So I'm novice. Given its proximity to Atlanta, I think it is a great excursion if you want to ski / snowboard. The beer was cheap, the burgers were cold, the fries were great, and most of the staff behind the counter were stoned.

The staff at this facility are second to none. My daughter spent 2 days here this past week and had the best time. Monday was a whole day with Fillipe (I think that is how it's spelled) and said he was great. Today, we came up and she did a half day on her own and Sue, the ski school... More

Living in Atlanta, being a new snowboarder, and with my only snowboarding experience being in Utah, Colorado and Oregon, it's somewhat strange that I haven't been anywhere near where I live to enjoy this great sport. Out of Cataloochee's convenient location and my need to get a "fix" for my addiction, I spent one night session and one partial day... More

We went on a long weekend trip to Cataloochee to ski. Neither of my kids (15 and 12) had skied before, neither had I, but my husband grew up skiing. The place was great! We stayed in Maggie Valley (the little town at the base of Cataloochie) which was small but had all we needed. You take the entrance to... More
