Wonderful short hike with a reward of expansive gorge views! 90 mile views, large open granite outcropping that handles crowds well. Last short section fairly steep and worth it! Beauty at 4,000 feet that should be on anyone's list of fav hikes!

The hike to HB is not too bad and worth every step. 360 degree views of Linville Gorge and Table Rock. The hike is fine for younger kids who like to hike. Def. worth the time.

After totally getting lost, we were finally able to find Hawksbill Mountain (FYI take a right at Ginger cake road and stay on the road to the left, and you'll eventually find it!) The hike itself is moderate--we were able to climb it quickly to...More

We hiked this trail in the late morning and had an enjoyable time-except for the swarm of bugs at the very top that prevented us from going to the outer edges. The views were spectacular and you could see for miles and miles on this...More

One of our favorite hikes in the region, the Hawksbill Trail has some of the best views of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. The hike is 2.4 miles roundtrip, and spends quite a bit of time climbing in elevation (700 feet in 1.2 miles). We're...More

First time to Hawksbill, and yes it was worth the effort. The mountain trail was fairly easy to get to, from Asheville. Count on a solid hour plus for the drive. Most trails obviously don't have restrooms, so do use it at one of the...More

I think it's the altitude. It's not such a tough hike. Fairly short actually. You go straight up the mountain. Down the other side and then a shorter hike up the next mountain. Nice view from the top. We were there during hawk migration and...More

Excellent hike, little difficult finding road, parking available at trailhead. Took 1 hr up and once there couldn't leave! Too beautiful! Can see probably 50-75 miles, huge granite top where to can picnic, and rest. Saw one bald eagle that flew by so close from...More

After a full day of hiking, my favorite place to end is on Hawksbill Mountain to watch the sunset. It is so breathtaking and is a decently fast hike that when it's dark, it doesn't take too long to get back down. I have cowboy...More

Don't put it in the GPS because it takes you to Linville Gorge. Instead put Table Rock In the GPS. The trailheads are very close, so you will see hawksbill trailhead before table rock
