Worth the walk/hike

bring your camera and sit a spell. The upper falls and chimney were awesome to sit and gaze at. Wear good shoes and bring water.

I have been in the Linville Gorge, the Linville River, Wiseman's View (West Side), and the following features on the East Side of the Gorge: Table Rock Mtn., The Chimneys, and the Mummy Buttress (climbing) ares. The Linville River is at the bottom of cliff systems that are 600 - 1,200 ft. high. There is a spectaculor waterfall just off... More

We walked the trail from the carpark and meandered along the river. It was interesting looking out for wildlife and fish. Tracks are well maintained and it is easy to set the time you want to walk and then return. A pleasant activity even in the drizzly rain.

We chose this area to picnic and let the children wade in the water. Everyone enjoyed the beauty of the river and surrounding scenery. Tables are provided and even the youngest can enjoy the water.

Good for the whole family. An easy hike through the woods along the river with two options. Stop and admire the upper falls or continue to the lower falls for a somewhat longer hike.

Our first destination when we arrived in Linville is to visit the Linville River. First we went to where the rapids were located as well as two waterfalls. The ground we were on was fabulous. Unique! The next day we decided to drive up the mountain on a steep pebbled roadway. From there anyone can go down to the river... More
