Our only goal is to share our passion for paddling and the outdoors with as many of you as we can! We offer Lazy River Tubing and rental of Canoes, Kayaks and Paddle Boards! We also teach kayaking and paddle board classes, offer guided whitewater trips in rafts or whitewater kayaks, do paddle board yoga, sunset paddles, river cleanup, and other fun events!

Group of 8, 5 tubes, three kayaks, 5 newbies. Check in was seamless, even though we always seem to have some type of changes. Couldn’t ask for a more pleasant staff all the way around. Despite the river being so low, we had an enjoyable 5+ hour float. Came out of the river to find our guy who assisted in getting tubes, kayaks, and cooler up the ramp and in trailer, and the bus picked us up timely to return to our starting point. We try to get together on this outing once a month during the summer, because it is just THAT GOOD of an EXPERIENCE!

We recently booked a kayaking adventure as a business outing, and it couldn't have gone any better! Our group included plus ones, and the company had no issues accommodating everyone. The staff was friendly, professional, and ensured that everyone was aware of what to expect on the water. All of the equipment was in great condition, the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. We had a fantastic time bonding as a team while taking in the beautiful scenery.
Highly recommend for both corporate events and personal outings! Will definitely be back!

Amazing day on the river with friends! Staff was helpful to explain what we needed to bring, to wear and priced for a full day of fun. Reminders were made to bring sunscreen, water and snacks. We enjoyed the Lazy float down the river. We highly recommend!

The wagon accommodation was comfortable, spotless and very atmospheric.
Unfortunately, your experience will be completely determined by those who have also booked in at the campsite.
Whilst I appreciate the benefits of a communal fire pit, our very expensive getaway (overpriced for what it is, especially the large cleaning fee for a one night stay) was ruined by a large group of friends and their young children (4 adults and 9 children squeezed into 2 wagons - well over the capacity advertised…).
They dominated the fire pit whilst burning the board games provided by the site, their children stole our complimentary smores kits when we turned our backs for 20 seconds, they ignored the quiet hours (children were running around feral, banging trash can lids and screaming past 10pm and way before 8am) and made the bathhouse filthy washing their muddy shoes in the shower(?!).
The owners of the site were nowhere to be seen to monitor or correct the other guests behaviours, leaving us feeling very uncomfortable and frustrated.

We are so sorry that our glamping set-up was not to your taste. The community firepit was designed and placed on our property very intentionally. It was a very conscious effort to bring people who stay with us together in a world where everyone seems so stand-offish and distant. We’ve been blown away by amazing feedback directly from our guests’ stays during our first year of operating The Cozy Heron. Yours is crowned as the first negative review.
Even though our set-up was not to your liking, we do hope that our future guests will see your review and use it to gauge whether they feel comfortable staying in a glamping ground with other happy glampers and not seeking unbothered seclusion, as it appears you were. During the week and off-season, our glamping property is not as busy with guests (and sometimes completely private!), so please keep that in mind when making any future reservations. We welcome everyone 😊

We didn’t know if the kayaking class would be canceled at first due to the weather. Thankfully it wasn’t. William provided a good intro to kayaking and we were able to get out into the water before the rain really came down. Would recommend this class to anyone who wants to get started in kayaking.

We brought our own tubes. Very easy check-in process. The river was a little slow moving, but it was moving. They have no control over that. We brought paddles so it wasn't an issue. The river was very clean compared to some others we've tubed. There were a lot of people but the Cape Fear is pretty wide so we weren't on top of each other. The rock garden at the end was the only time we had to get out of the tubes. The bus was already there waiting. Plenty of room and friendly service.

I've been out with CFRA twice now and had a great time both times. They have it all down to a science. The staff are all very warm, friendly and efficient. I had a chance to chat with one of the owners on the latest visit and they were awesome as well.. truly caring about the customer experience. I will not hesitate to go back and continue recommending people!

Even know it was a 100+ day, we completely enjoyed the trip. The staff was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. Huge shout out to Ashley who is a rockstar! I would do it again next weekend if I could!

Never has 3 hours gone by so fast! This was my first time tubing and I'm ready to do it again. I was part of a group of six women. We had such an amazing time floating down the river. Great conversations. Plenty of snacks. Gorgeous weather. Enjoying nature.
I will probably buy a paddle or two for our next trip. A few times we floated close to the trees and rocks, and I think a paddle would make it easier to maneuver around such obstacles. A few of us expressed interested in the glamping wagons (adds to Bucket List).
The only con of the trip was having to use a porta-potty.

My husband and I commented several times on how exceptional everything was. Every single staff member (and there are many) was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. It was exceptional. Everything was not only clean (very important to me), it was exceptionally clean. We took the Intro to Paddle Boarding class, and the instructor was great! We became comfortable standing and maneuvering on the board. We went on the River Tubing Express and I haven't been that relaxed for a long time. We Glamped at the Cozy Heron in the covered wagons, which our teenage grandchildren thought was fun and the adults found very comfortable with plenty of air-conditioning and space. We appreciated so many little extras like mini s'more kits, a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of pods, Sugar in the Raw packets, and good quality shampoo and soap in the bathrooms. Again, exceptional! My husband was even impressed with how well built everything was at the campsite, including the bathhouse. We had an exceptional time!

Hi Cindy! There is a river access ramp fee of $5 per personal water vessel/personal river tube if you put in at our office in Lillington. We do offer shuttle service (return trip from Wildlife Rd access) for $10/person and the $5 ramp fee is waived if you use any of our rental or shuttle services. Thanks for your question! -megan

Hello! Of course, if you've got your own equipment we offer shuttle services. Please give us a call to talk about the parts of the river you plan on paddling/tubing. It sounds like you've never been on this part of the Cape Fear River, so definitely give us a call! Even if you don't end up going or using our services, we want to make sure you understand what different parts of the river are appropriate for which activities (paddling, tubing, experience levels). What is the best way to pack snacks id the cooler will be full of ice and water?

There is usually a few inches of "give" between the edges of the cooler tube and your cooler (depending on your cooler's size). If you need to, you may rent as many cooler tubes as you need. Hope that this helps!

Tubing rental is $20 per tube, it includes tube itself, pfd, and shuttle to the starting point at the end of your trip. Thanks!
