We came out early and walked along the beach and water park during our weekend there. It was very beautiful and peaceful along the water. When we went by during the day there were lots of people enjoying the beach. Small beach but nice.

Local residents don't really go to this public beach and water park. They have their own boats, docks and 'access' to the lake. If they do go, it's to take people who are visiting, usually small children who are just happy to be in the water. The beach and water park are very old. The equipment in the water park consists of about 3-4 attractions and that's it. Again, all very dated and hardly worth the money charged to go inside. Also the beach is NOT smoke free. There is no great concessions area, and no lunch counter, outdoor restaurant, music, bars, nothing inside the beach area that would make this more of a social outing for the day, like a real day at the beach. The water is also extremely shallow, and not refreshing at all when it's super hot outside, so if you don't mind all of that, then it's fine as something to do once. The views created by mother nature are the real attraction, and you don't need to go to the public beach to enjoy that. I say skip the beach and the water park, rent a pontoon boat and go out on the lake instead with your family and friends.

Closed and it’s still summer. Sign clearly stated open until Labor Day Monday. Not to mention your lake lure welcoming center receptionist was not very friendly. We walked in and weren’t spoken to I asked a question about the public being able to visit the actual steps where scene from dirty dancing was filmed. She looked at me and said no and continued to look at her computer. Shouldn’t she advised of other fun things to do in the area since the lake was closed???

We travelled 100 miles to visit this beach / lake. Beautiful spot at the base of the mountains. Clean beach & lots of parking. A bit pricy for the day ($9 each, including our teenage kids). Changing rooms a bit basic. Bring a parasol / shade = only one shaded area on the beach.

The beach was clean and the back drop of the mountains was beautiful and relaxing. The water slides were well kept and fast. The only thing I have a problem with is the cost of $8.00 per person and then the renting of paddle boards and kayaks and the selling of umbrellas and floats. Everything has a price and you could spend a good deal of money for a nice day.
