You can park at the State park and walk across the street to the ocean. There were not many people at the ocean and the beach is quiet. The trees in the state park make for some neat pictures.

What a gem! Lunch for five for 22.00. Rented 3 kayaks for 7.00 an hour! Cheapest rates on the beach and over looking the water! Paddle boards, fishing gear, canoes, kayaks, coolers, even fishing gear.... Love it!

I almost didn't write a review, because I want to keep this beach a secret! What a beautiful place to swim and just enjoy your time. Parking is free. The facilities are in great condition. We left already planning day trips here. Absolutely perfect! We will be returning and hoping this stays a perfect uncrowded beach.

Lots of fun at Fort Fisher. Plenty of room for kids to play. Picnic areas and nice places to walk. Some shaded areas to beat the heat.

A great state resource at the tip of Paradise Island (south of Kure Beach). Here you will find public beaches, good parking, and a 4- wheel drive-on beach if you want a secluded beach outing (no alcohol allowed). For Civil War buffs there is a great little museum describing the battle of Fort Fisher with a walkable self guided tour... More

My husband and I went here today. It was a beautiful day to go to the beach. The sun was shining and the beach was quiet and clean. We had a wonderful day and will be coming back tomorrow.

Went this past Saturday, 6/18/16, yes a windy day but a beautiful day and found parking (free!) and beach space (husband went surfing, whoa the current, but did catch some decent waves), enjoyed it because not crowded and plenty of parking, and the surroundings and drive in beautiful, clean, next time will stop at the fort, and bring our dog... If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle then this is a must to try. You get away from the crowded beaches up the road.

Wonderful area for family fun! Park, ocean area, across from Civil War Museum. Take the family for a day of fun in the water. Visit the Aquarium, the Rocks, museum, etc.
