Sightseeing while waiting for Matthew

Great place to get a different perspective of the rough ocean. Very long pier and lots of room. Only $2 to sightsee, can rent poles and get daily passes.

Close to our hotel for some fishing. Didn't catch anything but enjoyed just sitting and watching the ocean.

We visited here on September 28 2016. It costs $2 a person to sightsee, and $12 a person to fish the pier. Because of the tropical storms that just happened to passed through this area, the fishing here currently is not worth it. Once the fish return to the area, it may not be a bad place to fish. However,... More

The Avalon pier is an older pier that offers fishing and sightseeing. They also have a large game room that is fun for kids. Also some pool tables for adults. They charge $2.00 per person for sightseeing on the pier. I just sightsee, so I don't know about the costs for fishing.

For fishermen. It's a pier. Some caught fish and some didn't. They charge a nominal fee to enter. I think it was $2.

A smaller pier, lots of fishermen - $2 to walk out to sight see - all day in and out with a handstamp. They had a decent arcade, some gaming tables, a cheapo cafe, and a counter for bait and such. Very beachy and pier-like, but a little rickety with wide gaps between the boards and few small benches.

if you like to fish I guess its a good place. didn't seem like most folks were catching anything. there is charge and staff not that friendly. if you don't fish not much else to do besides walk look at scenery for a little bit and then jump back in your car and go on. don't stop here for a... A typical pier in this area, with only a small cost to enter ($2 per person). Lots of people fishing, so not a place I would recommend if you're looking for privacy. My concern was the people who were on the pier the night we visited (from approx 8:30-9:30pm). My gut said "don't stay too long", and as we were... More

We enjoyed looking around the new Avalon Pier. The fish aquarium was a popular stop for all the visitors. It has a nice gift shop too. Inside the gift shop is a place you can sit and watch the fishermen and the surfers.

We don't live that far away and decided to go to Avalon FP for the night to fish. Needless to say, if you're a woman...after midnight there is NO restroom! This can be tricky with kids too! We got there about 10:30 and were charged a whole day fee of $12.50 per person and our pass was only good until... More
