Nice pier overlooking ocean

If you want a different scene for a day on the beach go to this pier and fish a little or just sit and take in the sun and the ocean sounds. Sea gulls abundant and dolphins!

Our family of 4 stopped by to check it out... $2 per person is not a lot of money but we didn't feel it was worth spending on this shabby place. I made the mistake of using the restroom on our way out... it was dirty and gross. Noticed there were lots of shady characters hanging out in the parking... More

The Nags Head Fishing Pier is much nicer, has a restaurant and bar, and clean(er) bathrooms. The Outer Banks Fishing Pier is the best of the three that I visited. This pier is okay if it's walking distance from your rental, but otherwise, drive four or five more miles and go to Nags Head or Outer Banks' Piers. They are... More

I fish frequently at Avalon Pier. Was last there in early June. Always lament the lack of food service other than candy bars and packs of nabs, that sort of thing. When I visited more recently, I noticed a loss of some clutter as I approached the service counter. They now have a snack bar that includes BBQ, burgers, that... More

Took my sons there for night fishing. We were looking forward to a relaxing night fishing. This place is more like a sleazy bar than a fishing pier. Drunks stumbling around the pier, golf cart driving up and down scaring the fish, and loud people. They also tried slipping in a $15 overcharge. If you go there, go in the... More

This place is rough to say the least....broken down arcade machines most will just take your money. Dirty. Angry staff who doesn't seem to want your business.....do yourself a favor go to Jennette's Pier after our terrible trip to Avalon the staff at Jennette's welcomed us with open arms!

Seriously, the cost to just go out on the pier is $2 per person. If I could give Avalon Pier a zero I would as it is nothing special. It's not worth the time to go to as there are much better activities to do in OBX.

Has great ocean views, they do charge per person to go out on the pier, we went out on a night with a full moon and it was great

If you are a fishing type you may enjoy the pier. $20 to fish from the pier with equipment included. $2 per person just to walk out on the pier. Arcade at the entrance with many low-life characters will drive away most families. I made sure that I held onto my wallet the entire time I was here. Enjoy at... More

We rented a house that was a few steps away from this pier, and we wanted to take a leisurely walk out. Big mistake. First of all, you have to walk through a really sketchy arcade. Second of all, you then have to walk through a pool table/bar area. There were men on the verge of being drunk in both... More
