If you go to Mt Jefferson you have to do the Rhododendron Trail, without question. Why? That is how you get to the summit trail and Luther Rock. If you want to get all the views take 20 minutes to travel this easy trail

Some tricky parts, but definitely worth it. You're really in a hardwood forest with nature all around. Hard to believe you're only a few minutes outside of town.

Being from Ashe County and growing up in the shadow of Mount Jefferson, I hike the mountain all the time. It is my place of solace and solitude. There is always a new nook to find and path to explore.
