Great locale for museum but found it in transition during a visit Wednesday. Was informed that museum was recovering after being damaged from roof falling in. Was provided with some history of building itself.would consider a return visit if in the area again.

The stonework is magnificent on the outside, but the treasures and gems of our history within are truly what makes this a very special place. It changes over the course of the year, and Halloween is always a very fun time...do come and visit!

The building is beautiful, as is the town (although the Courthouse is pitiful). Not much logic to the way the museum is laid out, information was tough to consume and the artifacts are not memorable. It's free, so why not go in for 10 minutes, but that's all it's worth.

The Orange County Historical Museum features exhibits showing the history of Hillsborough and Orange County dating back to the pre-Revolutionary War period. Well worth the time to stop and visit. The staff are friendly and well education in the history of the area.

The museum is rather small, but you can't beat the admission fee which was free or make a donation. I have seen more items in past years on display than most recently, but it changes from time to time. They have been updating the displays most recently. The Director was very friendly and helpful with the educational needs. My students... More

A small museum on Hillsborough Main street in a historical building. The exhibits are interesting and exlectic, but they do need some freshening up and more modern signage.

This building is known as "the OLD Courthouse." This is used less frequently than the "New Courthouse" on the same street in Hillsborough, NC. I believe it is on "The Historic Building" site. Jane H.

The museum is in a beautiful 2 story stone building. You can read/learn about everything Hillsborough from pre-colonial days to the revolutionary war to the civil war and into early 1900s Hillsborough history. The second floor is used for rotating exhibits. The young lady working in there could have made us feel more welcome but it was very hot in... More

The museum has everything you need to take your own tour of all the historical sites. From the Hughes Military Academy to the Burwell School and all in between. Love this town. Hope it never changes. Check out the Twin Chimney House and all the signs.
