What a super fun day for the kids. Being close to home, this is now going to be one of our weekend spots to go when we want to get away. Here’s what you need to know for your trip: You have the choice of sluicing premined dirt, digging your own dirt and sluicing or creeking. Sluicing is a wooden... More

We had a wonderful time! We spent about 5 hours there & had a blast! Staff is so friendly & helpful. This was our second time there, not sure who had more fun...the adults or the kids! We only did the sluicing this time, but we want to plan another trip to try our luck at the creek next time.

Took the kids for a day of panning. We found a lot of cool stones and had a great time! My teenage daughter even put down her iPhone and enjoyed herself!

What a blast. As an older couple, we had absolutely no trouble accessing the property. It was slightly downhill - and then uphill - but even with bad knees we made it. Pick a rock in the stream and start panning for stones. We found red jasper, quartz, fool's gold, sodalite, amethyst, and best of all, some emeralds. This had... More

On Thursday, June 9, 2016, my wife, sister-in-law, and I went to find the next $50,000 emerald at the Emerald Hollow Mine in Hiddenite, NC. We signed up for the stream and the sluice trough, and we went to both in that order. One thing we suggest is that you reverse this and go to the sluice trough before you... More

It was a little price at $25.00 per person, and a lot of work to haul the pails of of dirt from the dig area, but was a lot of fun in the end and we got lots of gems. An alternative would be to buy the pre dug pails of dirt. No hauling of dirt and lots of gems... More

Went there on a day trip . Fun adventure. We found a lot of great stones nothing valuable. Sluicing us very fun . The creek mining is a blast . The mine is a rustic looking place. Be prepared to get wet and dirty. You can picnic at this pace and they have bathrooms.

We had visited two years ago and this year was a little bit of a let down. Price went up and the gems that were being found were small and very sharp (I cut my finger). It's a great experience for kids to find "treasures". Very little emeralds and tiny. Remember your there to have fun. Going to the creek... More

Staff was friendly, but not overly helpful. Found a few facetable stones, but no emeralds. No metal buckets or digging tools were allowed in the creek. Shaded flumes if you choose to purchase a bucket. We chose to walk down the creek and dig and screen on our own. Walking trail along creek.

Four mature adults bought a $120 bucket to share and we all walked out with really great finds. Don't expect to find hiddenite-not much left I guess, but the time and energy was well spent. Can't wait to see our cut stones.
