A great place in Alexander County to spend some time with your family. It took about 2-2 1/2 hours to hike to the top and back. There are also various trails to chose from.

First visit here. Park is very clean and well maintained. There is a picnic shelter with clean restrooms. I do not rock climb, but there are several routes up the rock according to the map. We hiked about 2 miles of the trails, sticking to the moderate ones. The views are beautiful. Saw many different wildflowers along the way. There... More

This park has multiple paths up the mountain. Be sure to stay on the trail because there are cliffs around

I've climbed at the park a half dozen times. I'm very impressed by the planning and development work that went into creating this wonderful resource. Best location I've ever seen for introducing kids to climbing! And a special thanks to the great staff! They're so welcoming and helpful! BTW. Dominos Pizza in Taylorsville will deliver to the park. Awesome!

You will enjoy a lovely drive through a rural landscape on the way to Rocky Face Mountain Park, then you will enjoy a breathtaking rocky face that seems to spring out of no where. Lots of zig zag trails take you to stunning overlooks. The well maintained pavilion has tables, grills and restrooms but you will need to bring your... More

I love Rocky Face Mountain Recreational Area! Operated by Alexander County, this park has five miles of moderate to strenuous hiking trails, an ADA accessible walking track, a picnic shelter with restrooms, an overnight campsite, geocaching, and beautiful views from atop the mountain. If your family loves the outdoors, this is a must-do on your list! www.RockyFacePark.com

I grew up in the area and have visited the Rocky Face mountain many times over the years. We used to climb the cliff in the quarry area long before it became a park. Also in years past it was a great place to target shoot as all the bullets smashed against the rock and just fell to the ground... More
