Third year staying open year round. Even fresh local vegetables in February. Lots of variety of meats, baked goods and goat cheese. If I didn't work here I would visit every week for the quality and friendly to atmosphere. See you Under The Sails!

Today's Hickory farmer's market has grown into a pleasant place to shop for fresh, local produce and other goods. As the wife of an organic farmer, I can appreciate the hard work and dedication that the vendors put into their products. Yes, it may cost more than a grocery store, but I'll wager the food tastes better. I bought some homemade pasta that was delicious! I turned it into pasta salad as soon as I got home. Umm umm good!
There was a good selection of in-season produce, homemade soaps, herbal teas, beef jerky, breads, fresh flowers, locally grown meats, lemonade, goat cheese spreads, herb plants, and pork rinds. There was a man playing guitar and singing as well.
I guess if you want cheap stuff, shop elsewhere, but I love the atmosphere of the Downtown Market!

I was in the area visiting family as I have done for so many years, but this trip was a bit different. I requested a visit to the farmers market and I was so not disappointed. The city has done a wonderful job of adding a form of shelter for the vendors and patrons that adds aesthetic beauty and interest to the area.
The market has a wonderful variety of local arts, meats, fruits & veg, plants, honey, added-value foods, etc. I made so many purchases that days and spoke to a lot of the vendors. The market seems to be very well run and organized and makes a great trip with family, friends, or for date night.
I also love that they have utilized the old train depot.
A fabulous market with so many great finds!

We love the Wednesday and Saturday Farmers Market. The vendors and music are great. Our recent review is Only based on the recent (October) raffle tickets sold and lack of public drawing. The tickets were on sale at $10. each and advertised that sales ended Saturday 10/23. With lots of folks sitting and standing around at 1pm when the market ended, waiting to hear who won and despite there being a microphone available in the live music booth right across from the Market Managers Booth why didn't they draw a ticket and announce the winner in front of everyone? There was even a photographer in the Managers booth!
Sorry but it looks like you already had a winner in mind. Hopefully the raffle made lots of money for a good cause but it would have been nice to hear who won.

This place started out good and with good intentions. I don't know what happened but it seems they are not able to keep or get the better vendors. It is not as interesting/delicious/unusual or even good pricing anymore.

There was great produce, meats, flowers, etc. Good location! Wish more of the little shops were open though! Wanted to buy so much but had no where to keep it being out of town!

For being a small town this farmers market was amazing. I was on vacation but we had a home and planned to prepare meal so the variety was wonderful. Honey, flowers, vegatables and fruits. But what was the BEST gluten free baked goods and goat milk products. For someone on special diet this was wonderful to see. I would encourage to attend if in the area AMAZING. We did not have children but there was a water fountain park to cool off in.

My family likes walking through the downtown Hickory Farmers Market on Saturdays, and we usually find a few treasures to bring home, but if you are looking for a farmers market where you will find great deals on produce, this is not the one. There is a great variety of produce, food items, gift items, drinks, etc., so it is very fun and well worth your time. And it is in my favorite part of downtown Hickory, with lots of other shops, restaurants, and activities for the rest of your Saturday.

Is the Hickory Farmers Market set up to accept Food Stamps? It WAS an option in another town where my daughter and I lived and it made all the difference for providing fresh fruits and vegtables for my little one.
Thank you.
