This was a wonderful place to visit. Rachel was our guide and she was very informative. Loved the stories of the different families who lived in this beautiful home. Thank you Rachel. I highly recommend this tour.

We had been looking forward to visiting Hickory but we were sorely disappointed until we came across Harper House. It was a gem. The custodian was very new to her role, had just been a month in the job, but was incredibly informative about both the house's architectural and social history. She really brought the house to life for us.She was also inspirational in her plans for researching as much as possible about the history of the families who lived there as well as the passages and cellars underground. So nice to come across such an interesting old property and even nicer to come across its passionate guide. For $5 this was excellent value for money.

Wife and I stayed in the Hickory, NC area and were looking for things to do when we stumbled across Harper House. We decided to tour and had the best and very knowledgeable, Rachel Duke to tell us the history and explain the changes made over the years to this gorgeous Victorian style home. The restoration is remarkable and all the history and stories from the 1880's forward kept us completely enthralled. Great job Rachael and if we move nearby we will get in touch. The best $5 tour price is a great value and you will definitely get a great bargain. We know you will love the tour so tell Rachael it was Tom and Lynda's review that sent you there!!

Very informative tour of a beautifully restored house. A great way to spend an hour or two learning more about town life in turn of the century Western NC.

We went to see this house with little expectation and were so blown away by the house. Cameron our tour guide was amazing and patient with my two daughters who asked a billion questions. The house is beautiful and so well restored. I highly recommend a stop here. Plus Hickory is such a cute town.

This house is a must see for anyone into period architecture. I have toured many Georgian, Federal, Gothic and Greek Revival structures as well as Frank Lloyd Wright creations and this Victorian is definitely at the top of my list of go-to's. The restoration was apparently well funded and the wall papered walls and ceilings are beautifully done.
If you have an hour and $5.00 it will be time and money well spent.
