We had a wonderful experience watching our kids (4 yrs and 2 yrs) mine for gems. I think us adults may have enjoyed it more than they did! It was easy but exciting. It'd be a cute date idea, too! The shop and its products are beautiful and eclectic; we felt like we were in a tourist attraction from a... More

For an inexpensive morning or afternoon in the Asheville area this place was a lot of fun. My boys (age 2 and 3) had a blast finding rocks and things in the bucket of dirt that we bought. The staff was very friendly and even helped us identify all the different rocks and minerals we found. The inside shop is... More

We arrived at noonish and were the only people there. We had amazing service from Heather. She was informative and very accommodating. We got the biggest bucket and shared it. We ended up with emeralds and rubies and sapphires. We also had amythist and lots of other semi precious stone. She explained what we had and packaged up our treasures... More

Our eight-year-old grandson, who is into rocks and fossils, loves this place. It is very kid-friendly and not terribly expensive. "Finds" in every bucket. It is outdoors and sheltered from direct sun and rain, but the temperature is something to keep in mind. There is no food for sale, but they have a nice little rock/gift shop.

My 9 year old loves rocks. She BEGGED to go gem mining for her birthday party, so we invited friends to meet us to celebrate (traveling 2.5 hours to get there). It was worth the drive! Her friends had never been gem mining before and everyone, including the older siblings and parents, LOVED the experience. The kids each got their... More

We took my 3 yo daughter and 4 yo nephew here and had an awesome time. The owners were so patient with them and made sure they had a great "mining" experience. We really appreciated the time they took with us explaining what type of rocks they found. We got some amazing stones including 2 very large amethysts and green... More

Wow. I simply cannot fully put into words the absolutely wonder-full experience we just had. This was our first time visiting and I cannot stress enough how much fun we had. From browsing and shopping the gem store, to mining gems (I recommend that huge wash tub size), to getting to know the phenomenal staff... (new family members). We made... More

The store VESSEL is a rock hound's dream and appeals to everyone with the gorgeous and unique gems. I have never seen gems set so beautifully. Whether you are looking for stones to wear, admire, or collect for personal use they have you covered. If I lived closer I would have to fight going daily! I'm so glad the Apple... More
