What a lovely find practically on our doorstep but never new it existed, amazing food and drinks in marthas barn resturant especially happy at thd fantastic variety if gluten free and vegan cakes not the run of the mill ones that every cafe usualy has, my friends said how lovely the large home made sausage rolls were with lovely stokes sauces and the coffee was so good, that after walking round the hall gardens , we went back for more!!! When paying for your food/drinks in resturant you can also buy your tickets for the gardens £4 50 per adult. And your guven a clear guide/map Well
worth every penny. The white peavockis facinating and a big show off! Constantly demanding customers in the cafes attention by dancing and showing his tail feathers while loudly calling out!! We had a great day got there just before 12 had lunch walked round twice looking at plants and dragon flies then had coffee again and sat chattinv in the lively outside seating are

We visited Otley Hall to try the newly-opened Martha's Barn Cafe. We were not disappointed! The Cafe is set in a light and airy barn next to the historic house and surrounded by mature, landscaped gardens. There is plenty of outdoor seating too on the patio overlooking the gardens. The decor in the cafe is fresh and appealing and the staff most welcoming and efficient. I had the Special of the day which was a Sweet Potato and Goats Cheese Frittata with salad and it was delicious. The speciality coffee is terrific too. We will certainly be going back soon!

What a delight! Peaceful and charming are the two words that come to mind. The gardens are far from extensive but are delightful - keep an eye out for the white peacock. I think that if you are going just for the gardens then you might be slightly disappointed - it depends on your expectations. I wasn't disappointed. Martha’s Barn café is just lovely and from my point of view, the reason for going. Perhaps it might be best described as a wonderful cafe with an attached garden. I can heartily recommend the sausage roll and pickle alongside a cappuccino - followed by a deliciously light and moist, cranberry/pistachio flapjack.

Visited the garden in August. No flowers in bloom at all. While I understand that all flowers have their time and August isn't the best month for blooms a few dahlias would have injected some badly needed colour.
The herb garden was badly in need of some tlc as were the borders.
The only maintained part of the garden was the lawn!
Entry is £4.50 and is not good value when you consider its near by neighbour at Helmingham Hall.
Drive past - go to Helmingham instead.

Absolute shambles of a place.
Went to Martha’s barn for food first. 1 person served the other waited 10mins for a cake and only them got it as asked for it.
No signs to say where to go around the gardens.
Gardens very disappointing after looking on the website. Have the photos been edited to make it look bigger ??
Asked someone who worked there who didn’t know the way around either.
Says lovely walks but most of them closed off.
Paid for entry but would have been better staying at home in my own garden.
Avoid this place and visit helmingham hall.
Waste of time and money !!!

Traveled 15 miles to this cafe having seen a write up in EADT. Confirmed on arrival that g/f cake was available. Lovely setting and position, not busy. However, no order taken for over 20 mins despite other later arrivals being served. Then told no g/f cake. Our cake order took another 15 mins and all eaten before drinks finally arrived. Has potential to be a lovely drive out for refreshments but definitely needs a more organised and efficient service.

A wonderful brunch at Otley Hall! I had heard there was a new cafe open called Martha’s Barn and planned to make a visit. I was quickly seated outdoors, as it was a beautiful day, by the friendly staff, and provided clear instructions on where to order and pay. The barn itself has been modernised brilliantly, whilst in keeping with the rest of the estate. I had a great view of the gardens which were peaceful and well maintained, with some peacocks to watch roaming as well which is quite rare treat. My iced coffee and bacon roll were fantastic and very good value too. I will most definitely be visiting again. Thank you to all of the staff for making my visit enjoyable.

Brilliant - stopped here for a coffee during a monster bike ride. Martha’s Barn is lovely cafe with proper coffee and food. Beautiful gardens and safe place to leave bike. Highly recommended for cyclists, visitors or tourists. Very peaceful and calm surroundings

Otley Hall is a gem of a house (where one of my ancestors actually lived). The tour of the house and the moat were very informative and interesting. The house is fascinating and definitely worth a visit. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Suffolk! This is not a National Trust property but a living home and it is wonderful (in addition to learning about the history) to see how a modern family adapts to such a historical home. We had lunch in the tea shop and it was very good (sandwiches and tea) and reasonably priced. I would recommend it highly.

Otley Hall succeeds on many levels. Those interested in history will enjoy the accounts of past residents and even the ghosts that possibly haunt the house. But those like me who are garden enthusiasts will love the beauty of the gardens. Both formal and natural. And the peacocks are stunning. Some days there’s also a chance of enjoying a high standard of tea and cakes.
