Unbelievable

This has it all, sand, mud, water, a small lake. Steep hills, rocks. Drops and much to twist your axles. It is the most fun l have had at 5 miles per hour. If you have 4x4, take it here, you will not be disappointed. It is much, much bigger than it looks. 40 acres big!

Great day's fun playing at this off road area

A friend told me about this area, funnily I had visited the quarry as there's a walk through the woods, but I didn't know Yarwell Off Riad 4x4 Area existed. The site is open once or twice a month usually on a Sunday open from 09:30 to 15:30 currently for £25.00 per vehicle. It's a great area for off roaring events open to the public. You can find out when events are being held by searching their Facebook page. The site is quite large, mostly a sandy stone and soil surface with tracks leading through trees, up hills, twists and turns, mud holes and tracks, beaches into the lake, an island in the middle of one of the lakes. For convenience there's a porta loo on site and a burger van with tables and chairs. There were some serious off roaders with modified vehicles as well as people with their regular off road vehicles traversing varying levels of challenging terrain to make the day's experience a lot of fun. I've had a land cruiser 80 vx for 14 years that was out of action for over 2 years. Just got it back on the road three weeks ago and really wanted to give it a shake down, well this was a great place to do that and have some real fun with my cruiser after so long. The experience was exciting, thrilling and safe, the steward welcomed us, gave some guidance about the areas of the site given that I was in a regular street legal 4x4 vehicle and didn't want to wreck it. There are tracks all over the area to navigate some more suitable for shorter wheel base or raised vehicles, others suitable generally for all types of 4x4 vehicles. There was a warning that water was too high, although some people did make it across the lake. It may have been good to have markers at one entry and exit point with direction of travel and depth indicators so newre visitors might have some confidence to have a go through the water. If you've got a 4x4 vehicle and are curious about it's capability I'd recommend taking a trip on one of their open days and try it out. Have fun!!!
