trip with grand kids

Great place to visit. Grand children enjoy this trip. Bring a lot of cash. It is costly to bring a family of four.

This is a special place for Gaston County and its citizens. It is a museum of natural history from pre-historic to the present. It has many items to view, visit and participate with including an event items that allows you to view the stars and other planets.

We visited last when they had their Guinness world record of the most people making ice cream at the same time. It was a great experience and the displays about how ice cream has been made over the years was very interesting. My mom would make homemade ice cream when I was growing up so this experience brought back many... More

This is an exceptional small town museum that combines excellent modern indoor facilities and planetarium with an extensive outdoor pioneer and Indian village and hiking trail. Together there is a full day of things to do, explore and learn. It is great for children of all ages.

The best part to me is the nature trail. It's always free and is excellent for kids to learn about nature. And it's also pet-friendly (bring your own poop bags!). If you want to go inside the museum there is an entrance fee for the museum and a separate fee if you want to go to a planetarium. But it... More

This is a great place to have a family fun day that is also educational. There is alot to see and learn at the Schiele Museum. The younger kids will love the animal exhibits and the huge Dinosaur and the older kids will like the art and the whole family can benefit from the rich history of the local area.... More

We visited first thing on a Monday morning (9:15 am to about 11:45) and had the entire museum to ourselves. It was lovely! What a great spot for children of all ages. Younger kids enjoy the animals (both live and stuffed) and older kids and adults can read the many blurbs and partake in the hands on exhibits. For only... More

Schiele Museum is a great small venue museum that packs a big educational and entertaining punch. The museum itself is set up in a way that families can stroll thru and see nature exhibits encased in there own small environment. It is set up in a way that keeps children of all ages occupied. They are always having something special... More

A very high quality museum. Make sure you see the excellent planetarium and go no a day where they're doing something outside in their village where people display living from centuries past.

Good variety and a lot of interactive areas. Just not enough information shared. Perhaps there no funding for staff to provide it. We didn't know or understand what we were looking at some of the time. Not enough directional signs... Get lost easy in there.
