This is an okay place for your kids to play. There is absolutely no place to store things and there is absolutely no shade. There is a lot to do here, for about 1-2 hours. There is a normal playground next to the splash pad. If you forget towels, there is the convince of being able to dry off on there.

We tried the splash pad based on recommendations from a mommy site a friend uses. The day was one of the extreme scorchers we've had lately and we had been cooped up inside all morning. Perfect timing for the splash pad outing. My 3 year old loved it. I could only get her away with the lure of a frozen treat from the refreshment stand.
Things to note:
-- Free for residents of Fuquay; $2 charge per person for everyone else. If you're a mom and want to go in solely to supervise, you have to pay, too. I thought it was a bargain anyway!
-- Wear pool shoes. The pad is textured but very slick and all the kids are running around like maniacs.
-- There is zero shade and only two small benches outside the pad, which is fenced in. Lather up with sun screen, wear rash guards and hats, and leave everything but the car key in the car. There is no place to put anything! Anything you take with you from the car will get wet or will need to be unattended while you supervise your small children. Also, if you go in the fence, you will absolutely get wet, so plan on it even if you're just there to watch.
-- The bucket dumps a huge amount of water. My daughter wasn't paying attention and was almost knocked flat when the water crashed down on her. Small children should be closely watched and coached to sit down when the bucket dumps.
-- The refreshment stand only sells junk food of the snack variety and drinks. Don't plan on buying lunch there. However, the Italian ice is great! Do plan to cool off with one of those!
-- There is a dry playground right there, too. You almost don't need towels if you have the kids splash first and then play on the playground for a while before heading home.
As splash pads go, this is probably the largest I've seen. However, it's nowhere near as big as a pool. I'd say no more than an hour or two of entertainment tops. But the kids will certainly be exhausted at the end!

Residents can use the splash pad for free with a pass. For non-residents it's $2 a person. There is a shelter for a picnic lunch and some shade and there are restrooms. It is next to a playground as well. Be aware that the weekends can get VERY busy, so it's best to go on a weekday if you can.

My only real complaint about this is that each parent has to pay to go into the splash pad to watch our kids. I really think at least one parent should get free admission so we can supervise our children!

Took my 3 kids yesterday and they had a blast! Ages 12,8 and 6. 2 dollars a kid unless you live in Fuquay then it's free! They loved it! Clean and well maintained by the town.

The first year was fantastic being free. But now they charge for non-Fuquay Varina residents (not within the city limits). Still cheaper than those in other local towns and cities.
Kids are always exhausted after playing. Parents are able to stay dry even being in the splash area with the kids.

For $1 a child you can cool off at the splash pad. Young children love it. There is a covered shelter and nice playground here as well.

Entry is free for residents and $2/person for non residents, which is not too much to ask.
There are a variety of different water features to cater to different ages and is a great way to cool off on hot days.
My only complaint is the lack of shade and the lack of lockers. I kept all valuables in the car - so I had to double bag my car keys in two zip lock bags in my pocket as I knew I would be chasing my kids in the water.
It's a shame it's closing in early September - surely they could keep it open for another month?

First off , I am highly disappointed that the whole park only has one picnic area for families to eat at. It was rented from 10-2 so guess where my party of 8 had to enjoy a snack with toddlers and infant children?!? The ground . I think if they want to charge two whole dollars at least make some type of seating that has some shade and not have mud and bugs all around it. I would say one star but the splash pad itself is pretty cool for the children.
