Cool way to spend an evening!
Jul 2014 • Couples
We have visited the Red Drum pottery each time we have been to Hatteras and have a collection to coffee mugs to show for it. But, the last time we were there, we found out about Banjo Island. The owners (with guests) play good ol' Bluegrass. The place was packed! Nice way to spend an evening.

Friendly and fun musical evening

This is truly a fun experience that is something different do while you're on Hatteras Island. Might be unexpected too if you haven't been here before. Wes and Rhonda are the resident artists at Red Drum Pottery (beautiful work!), but their alter egos are bluegrass musicians. We go to Hatteras every year and have had the pleasure on 3 different visits to enjoy an evening of music with them at their Pottery gallery location in Frisco. For a nominal charge, they offer their own homespun but entertaining bluegrass jams. Other local and visiting musicians very often sit in, adding to the fun. Light refreshments are offered and the gracious and sincere hospitality is heartwarming. Beautiful music, beautiful folks. And beautiful pottery too. People and experiences such as this really add a personal touch and whole other dimension to our visits to Hatteras. Give it a try!
