I went with a group of about 10 people. We all started with $15 buckets (which contains four large plastic bags of sand and dirt.) The sluice is under a roof so we had some shade (a good thing because it was **hot in the sun that day!) You dump about half a bag into your sluice box and let... More

My wife and I stopped by two days in a row. We had a blast and found lots of cool gemstones. We will definitely come here again.

Rich and I returned to Franklin for a third vacation of gem mining. We had every intention of hitting the 2 mines we had visited in prior years. We arrived in town late and hit one of those mines and "did some buckets". Back at the motel we ran into a gal who'd spent two weeks in town mining. She... More

This is our favorite place to go to mine. Always a fun time and the owners are always friendly. If you want to dig your own dirt - this isn't the place for you but for good times and lots of gorgeous stones - this is it!

Arrived here at 5:15 pm when it closed at 6. We each got a super bucket, which was LOADED with fun (big) rocks for the kids. I don't feel like the helper there, Robert, was as gregarious as the helpers at other mines we visited. The owner even came out and sat to have a smoke and overheard us ask... More

I have wanted to visit a mine for several years after hearing stories from friends that had. Cowee was recommended by another mine actually due to us traveling in a motorhome because of their easy access from the highway. My husband, daughter, & her friend (14&13) teased me about wanting to do this but all ended up having a great... More

I found huge gems and found the staff very knowledgeable. The young staff member knew his gems and was very helpful.

We tried the fossil bucket, emerald bucket, and super bucket and came home with a haul! I found 2 large geodes that I got to cut on location that were gorgeous inside. Sweet, knowledgeable family business. Highly recommend.

If you like to dig in the dirt for possible treasure in the form of rocks ( gem stones), this is the place . We have been here several times over the years and have always been pleasantly surprised with the experience. We've found an enormous ruby, blue topaz, tiger eye, sapphires, garnets, moonstones and lots of quartz crystals. A... More

I've taken family members and friends here to get a little Gem City experience. It's something a little different for them, and everyone has enjoyed it. Staff are courteous and helpful.
