My adult daughter and I took a day and went to mason's for the day. We enjoyed digging our own buckets from the mine and sifting through the dirt and mud for gems. Steve was awesome in directing us where to dig and helping us spot the gems. After about 5 hours, we came out with 8.4 karats of sapphires!!!... More

This place has gotten awesome reviews (although sometimes I question the authenticity of reviewers who only have one or two reviews). However, I've been to Franklin County before and never went to this mine, so with the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. The lady inside the building was extremely nice. She took our money, and advised... More

We had a lot of fun sifting for sapphires. After working for about 3 hours, my 12 year old son and I found 4, totaling about 4.25 Carats. We used the actual mine's dirt. You can also buy "salted" buckets that have gems places in them, but if you really want to discover your own- do the dirt from the... More

An easy drive from Bryson (50 Minutes) and well worth it. Not the bags or small buckets of dirt like the other "mining" attractions. This is the real deal. You dig from the mined dirt pile and carry to the water tables. Steve was our "guide" and absolutely fantastic. We spent 6 hours there and our 6 year old wanted... More

We chose to go the route of buying a bucket and sifting through that. We were in search of a Ruby and we were lucky to find one. I didn't want to play in the North Carolina red dirt. It is a VERY long drive out of town.

The staff gives a whole new meaning to Southern hospitality. From the moment you arrive you are greeted and made to feel like family. They are friendly and very helpful. They explain what to look for and they help you check your screens to ensure you are not throwing away any sapphires. This was my second time here and I... More

This was a destination place for us from KY. They have a flat rate for the entire day and provide you all the necessary equipment without any extra charge. 4 flumes, 2 that are covered from the hot summer sun, and wheelchair accessible flume area. The dirt is actually from their mountain!! You get to pick and choose (to a... More

We were vacationing in Sevierville, TN and decided to make the drive to Mason's Sapphire Mine in Franklin. I'm so glad we did! The whole experience was very laid-back and authentic feeling. We chose to dig our own dirt from the freshly dug piles outside the mine. Charlie was working on the flume, helping with any and all questions that... More

Staff was very helpful. Cost was reasonable, because the flat rate included all the buckets you had time and ambition to collect. No additional charges. Fun day! Shaded Flumes. Met lots of people from many states. Family friendly outing.
