A must see!
Jun 2021
A must do. Sign up for a tour at the Visitor's center on Broad street, about 5 blocks from the waterfront in the pink house. The tour includes a few stops and this is one of them (on a golf cart). I loved seeing the inside, learning the history, and being able to climb the stairs to the top. Tour guide was awesome!

We would have left vet to have seen the side of the lighthouse but it was closed both days we tried.
It looks lovely and we love history.

An interesting lighthouse
Dec 2020
Visited this lighthouse this past weekend. It is very similar to the other two river lighthouses in the region. Although the interior was closed during my visit, it is a decent place to visit.

If you walk the pier on the river side you can get some nice views of the front. It is actually located in a great place, you can actually see the lighthouse from all four sides. Plus, it is possible to walk up the ramps/steps to see the lighthouse up close.

Interesting visit to this lighthouse. It was very interesting about the building and moving of this structure several times to this final destination.

Fascinating history
Oct 2019
As the only original river lighthouse left, this building has had some history, which culminated in its being set in the current location. It is possible to go inside and to get a feel for what life was like for 19th century lighthouse keepers.

As beautiful in real life as in the photos

I didn't go inside the Lighthouse but took the walk around the outside and talked a good while with the ranger on duty. It is charming and is located right beside the park. Definitely worth taking a walk around.

Interesting history

I'm not going to spoil it, go learn for yourselves. It's worth the time to get there and enjoy Edenton. This is a delightful spot. There's a playground nearby for the kids, you can rent kayaks, there's a boat tour that launches from nearby, go fishing, watch the birds, or you can stroll along the docks and take some beatiful shots.

We were on a four day visit to Edenton. Saw the light house from the trolley tour. Stopped by the Historical Society center and purchased tickets.

Docent was more than knowledgable. Made the life and times of the light keepers come alive. All furnishings are from the correct period. The finale was a climb into the cupola wher the light was mounted. Worth the entire experience!

Great family time.

Kids will probably love this the most because they can imagine themselves living in the quarter, with bed and small kitchen, You can climb up the narrow stair to the top and see a gorgeouse view of the entire Albemarle Sound.
