Went there over Easter weekend, and it was fabulous ! We actually went on a guided tour, and our guide added a lot to our experience. You certainly can just walk the gardens by yourself, for free ! There is so much to see, and it is always changing, so going back multiple times a year is a must !... More

It is extremely pleasant to walk through the gardens! There are thousands of beautiful flowers to look at and many paths to walk around on! Many people choose to bring a blanket and set up a picnic! Great for families!

A very well done park. We always enjoy a visit here on a nice day. Everything you expect in a park- lots of walking trails--green lawns and flower displays that change with the season- Free

If you are in Durham on a nice day you really should visit the Sarah P. Duke Gardens and Chapel. Bring a bottle of water and some comfortable walking shoes. Plenty of benches and shade trees to rest. Some steps so wheel Chairs will be tough going. They have hours that you can bring dogs. Restrooms by the Chapel are... More

The garden has a tea house with beautiful Japanese gardens surrounding it: a large pond with "Monet" bridge at the end and a variety of water birds; a "discovery" garden with bee hives, a chicken coop, and vegatable planting, a woods with wildflowers and frog ponds, a "white garden" for weddings, a moss garden -- and lots of enthusiastic volunteers... Sarah P Duke gardens are beautiful, lovely peaceful surroundings for the medical facilities to use. Helpful and friendly staff.... The only draw ba k is the wheel chair facility we struggled to get round most of the gardens using my gathers wheel chair, they do do a buggy tour but it doesnt cover all of the gardens. It would be... More

Love bringing family here as it is peaceful and beautiful. Needs scooter rental as not everyone can walk and enjoy all it has to offer. The ponds, rose and flower gardens are so well arranged and cared for. Kids and seniors enjoy the various special grouping of flowers, plants and fish ponds. Price-FREE! Plenty of parking as second lot has... More

I have visited here in summer when a lot was in bloom and thought I might be a little disappointed visiting in early April but that was not the case. Well layed out with easy to walk paths and blooms and Greenery is abundant. A true work of art.

One of the many highlights on the Duke campus. It is certainly worth the time if you are into flowers and nature to make a stop here. You will not be disappointed.
