Our guide was very helpful and informative! He provided history of the area and a lot of info about the plant and animal species that are native to the Corolla area! We were fortunate to see several kinds of birds, flying mullet, and a nutria. The double kayak was perfect for my 10 year old sone and I! A great... More

Took a group of 10 teenagers - a few first timers - kayaking on the sound by Currituck Light. Staff were very pleasant and helpful even though we chose to rent without a guide. Definitely add to the list of fun activities for a break from the beach.

Really enjoyed several trips. Very kid friendly and open to accommodating families with different skill levels. We've taken several trips, and will go to Monkey Island next. The owner is a local (Hadley?) and seems to hire guides who are energetic and enthusiastic. You don't have anyone who is grumpy or is unhappy with your traveling with a kids. I... More

My teenage daughters went Supping and for a full 2 hours we paid $30 which was excellent value. This venue is by the lighthouse and has a long jetty to walk out to the sound but don't let that put you off since that's part of the fun and definitely a big part of the atmosphere. The people who run... More

We decided we wanted to kayak in Corolla and upon checking tripadvisor saw all the positive reviews for Coastal Explorations. We walked in and within a few minutes Hadley had us on the dock in our sea kayaks. With map in hand we explored the Currituck waterways and saw a ton of birds, fish jumping left and right, and the... My husband took our daughter and niece on a kayak adventure and had a lot of fun. Customer service was exceptional… It rained on them unexpectedly and my husband's Jeep was full of water and the staff even help him put up his top and drain out his Jeep (in the rain)! Highly recommend Hadley and her team. We will... More

This was our first time doing stand up paddle. The shop was hard to find because of small signage but parking was convenient. Staff was helpful in getting ready to SUP. You can keep you belongings in a basket at the shop, perhaps they can eventually get a small locker or something. Also be prepared for the extremely long walk... More

We rented one two person kayak and two SUP boards. We called a head and everything was ready for us when we arrived. The young lady did inform us that is was a little breezy out there so if we wanted to change the SUP to kayaks we could and she was right so we ended up exploring the marsh... More

My children and I have been on tours and have rented bikes and kayaks from Coastal Explorations for years and look forward to returning next year to do it all again. Staff is wonderful, the views of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, coastline and maritime forest are second to none anywhere else in Corolla. Prices are reasonable and did I mention... More

We went crabbing with Hadley my elderly parents and two grade school kids. The crabbing tour kept everyone highly engaged and entertained. Hadley has a very friendly and pleasant manner that can care for both the elderly and children. She was funny and taught us a lot about crabs and the sound. We learned line crabbing and then hauled in... More
