My husband and I wanted to take our children to the beach to see the wild horses, but honestly didn’t feel like a one hour tour with one of the local companies was worth $150. We have a 4 wheel drive Infinity QX 80. We...More

This end of the Outer Banks is not as congested with more residential areas. The beaches are beautiful and Currituck Beach has the most magnificent wild horses that roam the beach. You can go by tour or if your willing, 4 wheel yourself onto the...More

What a cool beach. Wild horses roaming, great dunes and paths, quiet solitude (at least in shoulder season). Loved the freedom of exploring the paths off the beach. Houses tucked deep inside the dunes! Must have a 4x4 and deflate tires. You cannot park on...More

One of the most beautiful natural beaches! We were able to see the wild horses walking the beach during the early morning hours and they were gorgeous!

Incredible day walking the beach, taking photos of the wild horses, brown pelicans, and osprey hunting for fish. Crowds were lighter than expected, even for Memorial Day Weekend. Access to the beach is 4x4 vehicles only, and highly recommend deflating the tire pressure.

Our tour guide/driver, Wiley, was fantastic! He is a local and takes his boat across the Sound to work. Amazing! We saw about 20 mustangs, including some under a house for shade. Thanks Wiley!

Our tour guide was Marshall. He was very knowledgeable about the horses, and the history of their habitat. He seemed to enjoy going on the tours as much as the tourists and it is obvious that Marshall and the company have a genuine passion for...More

Lovely view of the beach and horses if you are in a off road vehicle, be careful that you don't get stuck in the deep puddles or dunes!

Horses where great to see roaming freely. Worth the time to go. I do think the locals should have a clean up drive, lots of rusty metal and trash in the dunes. You have to go off the pavement for this trip.

You can drive on the beach free of charge. Its just a guess if you see horses, either on your own or on the paid tour. But if you drive on the beach its best to have a high frame vehicle, and let some of the air out of your... More

For driving only, there is no cost. If you park and fish, swim or whatever it requires a parking permit from the town. $50 for 10 days. Available at the visitors center. You will not get stuck with 4WD. I saw all sizes of... More

From my understanding, camping is forbidden on the Corova shoreline. However, campsites are in Currituck County on the sound side area. Some rent cottages, in Corolla, then drive over to Corova shores and back. I hope this... More
